Area denial frame grenade launchers are a powerful new frame of grenade launchers that do exactly what their name implies. Instead of direct damage, they cause a moderate-sized area of the battlefield to get riddled with an area-of-effect attack that deals damage over time. The VS Velocity Baton is the first of its kind in the energy slot and is a powerful addition to the Guardian’s arsenal. It can be enhanced, improving its stats and granting it the enhanced 3rd and 4th column traits. You obtain the VS Velocity Baton from the Vesper’s Host Dungeon on Europa. Specifically, the VS Pyroelectric Propellant can drop from the 1st and 3rd Encounters of the dungeon. You will need to own the Final Shape dungeon key and then go pick up the quest Rogue Network from the Spider at the Last City in order to access the dungeon. Once you complete the Rogue Network quest, you can also get the weapon from the secret chest found throughout the dungeon.
What Is the VS Velocity Baton God Roll in Destiny 2?
A god roll is the best combination of perks and masterwork that a weapon can get. God rolls are often sought after as they are considered the ultimate drop of that weapon and the most effective roll used in most content. In most situations, there are two god rolls for any gun, a roll for PvE and one for PvP. The VS Velocity Baton has an amazing PvE roll that everyone should go after as soon as possible. However, area denial frames are not the best option in PvP so its really not worth chasing the PvP roll at all.

The best perks for the VS Velocity Baton PvE God Roll are Quick Launch, High-Velocity Rounds, Demolitionist, and Attrition Orbs. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

PvE Breakdown
Simply put, area denial frame grenade launchers are powerful utility weapons in the Destiny 2 sandbox. They aren’t the best for dealing damage, but their ability to clear out minor enemies and build up charge for transcendence it unparalleled. The VS Velocity Baton takes these benefits and further adds to them with a powerful perk combination. The Blast Radius stat does not affect area denial frames, so take perks like Quick Launch and High-Velocity Rounds to improve its other stats instead. A Reload Speed masterwork and a Tactical mod can get most of its stats up into the 90s very easily.
While its stats are amazing, they are not what make the VS Velocity Baton a must-have weapon. It is the 4th Column trait Attrition Orbs that make this weapon ridiculously powerful in PvE. While normally Attrition Orbs is a mediocre or niche perk, VS Velocity Baton can generate anywhere from 2 to 4 orbs in a single shot because it is a damage-over-time weapon that can hit multiple targets. This is a powerful support ability that when paired with a perk like Demolitionist can make build effective with Supers, Grenades, and Armor Charge. This weapon should not be slept on and is absolutely S-Tier unless Bungie decides to nerf its orb generation.

The best perks for the VS Velocity Baton PvP God Roll are Volatile Launch, High-Explosive Orinance, Danger Zone, and Chain Reaction. These provide important stats, utility, and damage for the weapon.

PvP Breakdown
The VS Velocity Baton may be a monster in PvE, but it lacks a great place in the PvP sandbox. Area denial frames in general are just less than great choices for The Crucible due to how they work. They are mostly either a control or clean-up weapon, and unfortunately, this niche is better filled by other archetypes. Perks like Smart Drift Control and High Velocity Rounds are the best options to get the best stats to make the weapon work if you must. Try to get the Handling of the weapon up as much as possible in order to quick swap from it to another weapon to clean up the kill.
There isn’t much active play to be had with the VS Velocity Baton, so we are focusing on passive damage improvements to make it easier to get the cleanup kill with it. Under-Over and Harmony get us the most bang for our buck for this without needing to think about it too much. Depending on your preference you could opt for High Ground as well. As stated earlier, this weapon seems way more designed for PvE than PvP so you are probably better off picking any other weapon for PvP unless you are just looking to meme on your oppenents.

Q1. What are the odds of getting a VS Velocity Baton god roll?
Answer: The odds of getting a perfect 5/5 god roll on the VS Velocity are about 1 in 2500, which is very low for a Destiny 2 weapon that isn’t craftable. There is currently no way to focus the perks or improve your chances of getting a certain role. That means you best chance of getting a perfect roll is just to get in there and farm the encounters that the grenade launcher drops from.
Q2. Is the Vesper’s Host dungeon farmable?
Answer: As of Episode: Revenant, the Vesper’s Host dungeon is completely farmable. That means you can farm every encounter over and over to chase the desired weapon you want. Once the next dungeon is released in Episode: Heresy, Vesper’s Host will enter the Dungeon Rotator playlist and will only be farmable on the days that it is one of the featured dungeons.
Q3. Are Vesper’s Host dungeon weapons craftable?
Answer: Dungeon weapons, as a rule, are not typically craftable. Bungie also seems to be moving away from having a lot of weapons be crafted in general as of Episode: Revenant.
