Diablo 4 Season 9 expands upon the game’s number of builds and playstyles by introducing several new Uniques and spells into the mix. The spells, especially, are very powerful, and the Astral Pillar is a standout for those who prefer playing defensively.
The Astral Pillar is a Catalyst-type spell that creates an Ethereal Column that Taunts for 3 seconds. The Taunt attracts the attention of all the enemies. When they rush to it, piercing waves emanate and deal 13,704 damage. This continues until you create another one or move too far away. The Astral Pillar is incredibly effective when dealing with a ton of heat. It helps you keep the heat off of you with the Taunt and also helps deal moderate amounts of damage to the enemies.

With Infusions and Arcanas, you can modify the waves to freeze enemies, inflict Stun, execute non-boss enemies, grant Unhindered, and so much more. You get the Astral Pillar quest in Diablo 4 by completing the Bearing the Weight of Ghosts quest. This is a seasonal quest introduced in Season 9 and is the second quest in the new storyline. The Bearing the Weight of Ghosts quest takes place right after The Embers Yet Smolder, and you start it by talking to Bryona in Cerrigar.
Once you’ve accepted the quest, you have to head into a Nightmare Dungeon. You’ll have to kill a ton of enemies and keep proceeding till you find a Horadric Strongroom. The gameplay loop remains the same in the strongroom as well. Kill enemies till the boss spawns, which you then have to beat to earn a Blood Relic. Take the relic back to Bryona to complete the quest, and you will then unlock the Astral Pillar.
