Diablo 4 has a ton of spells that all cater to different playstyles. Some spells are effective for dealing with mobs, others for dealing high damage, and some more for buffs and stat boosts. While the selection of spells feels impressive at first, it quickly delves into repetitiveness as you sink hours into the game. To remedy this, the game provides you with Arcanas.
Arcanas are powerful modifiers that change the way your spells behave. Season 9 has just come out and has already shifted the meta with its new Arcanas. Of the new ones on offer, the Shifting Powder is incredibly powerful.
Shifting Powder modifies your Catalyst to increase your Movement Speed by 38% during its effect and for 5 more seconds after it ends. This makes you The Flash on the battlefield, making you untouchable for its duration.

How To Get Shifting Powder in Diablo 4 Season 9
You get the Shifting Powder Arcana as a drop from Horadric Strongrooms in Diablo 4, but the item isn’t part of the loot pool right away. Since the Shifting Powder is a rare Arcana, you’ll first have to unlock it as a loot drop by reaching Rank 3 on the Horadric Knowledge Board. This will unlock the Rare Arcana Reputation Cache, which enables rare Arcana drops for the Horadric Strongroom.

Once you’ve unlocked the rare drops for the strongrooms, you then have to follow the steps below:
- Use a Nightmare Sigil and interact with it to enter a Nightmare Dungeon.
- Clear out the Nightmare Dungeon and use your Horadric Wayfinder to seek out the Horadric Gateway.
- Once you’ve found the gateway, interact with it to enter the Horadric Strongroom.
- Clear out enemies and acquire Attunement within the time limit. Try to reach tier V or VI on the Attunement meter. You can check your progress by peeking at the right side of your screen.
- Once the timer runs out, defeat the boss that spawns. You’ll then get a loot cache with rare drops. There’s a chance to obtain the Shifting Powder in this cache. Farm the strongrooms as much as you can, and you’ll get the item in no time.
