How To Acquire Volatile Crystal in Diablo 4
To use a Horadric Spell effectively and experiment with different variations, you need Catalysts, Infusions, and Arcana. While you can acquire Catalysts and Infusions by completing certain quests of the seasonal questline, Arcana is earned as Horadric Strongroom rewards.
To acquire the Volatile Crystal Arcana, clear Horadric Strongrooms, found within Nightmare Dungeons. However, higher-level Arcana (Rare and Legendary) require you to progress further in the Horadric Knowledge system.
How To Use Volatile Crystal in Diablo 4

Catalysts, Infusions, and Arcana enhance different aspects of the Horadric Spell, where Arcana provides additional and bonus effects. Unlike Catalysts and Infusions, a Horadric Spell can have up to three Arcana. Head to the Horadric Spellcraft menu and equip the Volatile Crystal to one of the Arcana slots, which then grants 10% Resistance to your spell for 10 seconds. Additionally, the Arcana also provides Maximum Resistance to your Infusion’s element type. Upgrade the Volatile Crystal Arcana using Horadric Phials, which increases the Resistance by 2% per rank, up to Rank 5.
