The world of Diablo is vast and filled with wonder. The world has an extensive history, and this very history shapes the events of the games across the series. While the main story taps into the history and lore, it feels very surface-level. Thankfully, the game’s side quests take up the torch and expand upon the world in countless ways.

The Pilgrim’s Footsteps quest is a side quest in Diablo 4 that tells you the story of Akarat, the Pilgrim. Akarat had once commenced on a pilgrimage in Kehjistan, and it is this pilgrimage that the quest expands upon. This is one of the easier quests in the game, but it has one incredibly confusing section. We’re here to help you with that.

How To Complete The Pilgrim’s Footsteps Quest in Diablo 4

You begin The Pilgrim’s Footsteps quest by heading to the western end of Kehjistan, within the Amber Sands. Head to the Searing Expanse within these sands, and you’ll find an Old Book on the floor. Interact with it, and it will advise you to stand at Akarat’s feet and follow his footsteps.

Once the quest has begun, open your map and you will see a blue circle a few meters to your northeast. This is where you need to go. As you approach the blue circle, you will find the statue of the pilgrim himself. “Follow me,” the statue will say when you approach and interact with it. The game will then tell you nothing else. This is where the quest gets vague, and many players hit a roadblock here.

To get past this phase, you need to open the emote menu and perform the ‘Follow’ emote in front of the statue. If you don’t have this emote on your wheel, click on the customize button under the wheel. You can then assign the ‘Follow’ emote to the wheel.

Use the emote, and a chest will suddenly appear out of the ground. Walk over to the Boon of the Faithful chest and interact with it to complete the quest. The Boon of the Faithful chest will have random loot, but you will get XP for completing the quest.
