IShowSpeed didn’t meet Lionel Messi in Uruguay, but he did cross paths with a well-known lookalike of the soccer legend.
Darren “IShowSpeed” is currently on his South American tour where he has visited many countries—including Argentina, Chile, Guatemala, and more. He recently traveled to Uruguay, where he was believed to have met soccer superstar Lionel Messi. However, it turned out to be Messi’s lookalike, Maximilliano Priggione, a well-known TikTok content creator. Speed is unquestionably one of the biggest fans of Cristiano Ronaldo. After seeing Maxi, Speed was surprised to see him and asked if he was Messi himself or his dad.
“What the hell is that? Messi, what the… is that Messi? What the hell? Why do you look exactly like Messi? You Messi dad? is you his grandad or something? Oh…This dude looks exactly like Messi. What the hell?”
After the brief interaction, IShowSpeed asked Maxi if he danced, to which the creator replied yes, and started dancing. Darren also joined the TikToker in the dance, while the crowd cheered on the two. Maximilliano currently has over 724K followers on TikTok and boasts 17.5 million likes on the platform. Speed also tried several Uruguayan delicacies including the popular “Mate” drink and local food. Moreover, Speed also met Ronaldinho’s lookalike while in Uruguay.

At the start of the stream, Speed also announced that he was invited to a Royal Rumble match and was given permission to stream by Triple H.

After the news of Speed meeting Messi was posted on X, the news spread like wildfire. Speed has been vocal against Messi as he is one of the biggest rivals of Speed’s idol—Cristiano. A post by @IShowSpeedHQ on X got over 6.1 million views and received over 118K likes as of this writing. In over 427 comments, fans stated the similarities between Messi and Maxi, while some pointed out that it was the real Messi as there was no community note.
