Twitch streamer Kai Cenat is no stranger to creating unique streaming events and projects. As of November 2024, Cenat is engaged in a month-long subathon, popularly labeled Mafiathon 2. One of his earlier viral events was his 7 Days Instream, where he set up a real-life prison set. During this event, he wasn’t allowed to leave or have any contact with the outside world. The streamer also invited other creators, like Druski and Rayasianboy. To clarify, Kai Cenat was never actually in jail, just a staged setup.

Highlights from all seven days of Cenat’s stream are available on his official YouTube channel, Kai Cenat Live. The event was a major hit among fans, attracting millions of views, with a range of activities and challenges organized throughout the stream. For instance, the group held a prison wrestling competition and even added a touch of chaos by bringing 100 girls into the prison cell.

Was Kai Cenat Detained by the Police?

Though Kai Cenat has never actually gone to jail, he was taken into police custody in August 2023. For those unaware, Cenat hosted an unplanned giveaway at New York’s Union Square Park, where he announced he would be giving away 300 PlayStation 5s.

However, this decision ended up being a costly one for the streamer. Hundreds of people flooded the area, resulting in incidents of vandalism, property damage, and several injuries.

Hours after the chaos, NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey announced that Cenat would be charged with inciting a riot. Maddrey stated:

“Yes, the influencer is charged. He is gonna be charged with multiple counts. At least two counts of incitement of riots, unlawful assembly, and a few other charges.”

However, the charges were later dropped after Cenat publicly apologized for the incident. He posted on Snapchat:

“It was never my intent for it to get so out of hand, and I have learned a very valuable lesson that social media is a very powerful tool to do good, but it can also cause dangerous unwanted situations if it is not used properly.”

Despite the charges being dropped, Cenat was held in detention at one of the precincts in New York. He was filmed leaving the police station, accompanied by other AMP members, including Fanum and Agent 00.

According to the NYPD’s statement, they made 65 other arrests (30 of whom were juveniles), mostly individuals from the crowd that had gathered for the meet and greet. Some of these individuals were seen vandalizing public property and harassing vendors.
