Silent Hill F Is a Standalone Story

According to the official Steam page of Silent Hill f, it is a self-contained story within the game’s universe. This means there can be nods or references to earlier titles. However, it is not intended to be a direct sequel or extension of a specific storyline. Instead of a Western setting, the game is set in 1960s Japan. Specifically, the location is in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka. This location draws inspiration from real-life Kanayama in Gifu Prefecture.

The design choice was due to Konami believing that the game had become too overly westernized, losing its Japanese influence, and needed a fresh coat of paint. This led to the game being entirely a Japanese horror game. The game promises to be a welcoming experience for both longtime fans and newcomers. The veterans of the iconic series may find deeper meaning in its familiar atmosphere and subtle nods to previous entries. However, newcomers will be able to dive in without feeling lost.
