Everything you need to know about Elden Ring Nightreign’s narrative progression and whether the game has multiple endings or not.

Elden Ring Nightreign is vastly different from any of the previous FromSoftware games, with a progression system that is more akin to a roguelike than a soulslike. While the game retains the core gameplay and combat systems of the original Elden Ring, it feels significantly different compared to its predecessor. The differences aren’t just limited to the game’s primary progression system. The storytelling in Nightreign is also quite distinct compared to any of the previous FromSoftware soulslikes.
While the game does have item descriptions and cryptic lore-related codices, most of its story is told directly to the player via the Remembrance system.
However, although Nightreign’s storytelling is vastly different, it still has some similarities to past Souls games. Much like FromSoftware’s previously released Souls games, Nightreign also has multiple endings. Here’s everything you need to know about Elden Ring Nightreign’s multiple endings.
How Many Endings Are There in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Endings in Nightreign work a bit differently from other FromSoftware games. Instead of having two or three endings based on your choices throughout the story, Nightreign has character-specific endings. Essentially, if you finish the Remembrance quests for a Nightfarer and use that character to defeat the final boss, you can choose a different ending. However, this doesn’t apply to all characters in the game.
So far, we have found that Wylder, Revenant, and Ironeye are the ones that have a dedicated second ending. However, Raider, Executor, and Duchess do not. The second ending basically ties into the Nightfarer’s story, continuing their Remembrance quest.
At the end of the game, you obtain the Nightlord’s Great Rune. By default, your character uses the Great Rune to eradicate the Nightlords and the Night from the Lands Between, sacrificing themselves in the process. However, for the characters that have a second ending, there’s a choice to either use the Great Rune or replace the Nightlord. Regardless of the ending you choose, the final cutscene does not change. You still get to witness the arrival of the Nightlord in the Lands Between.
Is Nightreign’s Ending Tied to Other FromSoftware Games?
A lot about Nightreign’s story is still left to speculation. The Remembrances do shed some light on the Nightfarer’s past and their connections to the Lands Between. However, apart from that, Nightreign does not seem to have any ties to the broader story of Elden Ring. As for the presence of bosses from previous FromSoftware games, that’s never explained in the story.
The game does hint at a potential continuation of the Nightlord’s tale in the Lands Between, perhaps in a DLC. However, there’s no direct connection between Nightreign and previous FromSoftware games.
