Developed by Build A Rocket Boy with former Rockstar Games producer Leslie Benzies at the helm, MindsEye is a dystopian sci-fi third-person shooter slated for a June 10, 2025, release across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game features cinematic cutscenes, a linear single-player campaign, and a world taken over by AI and crime. With additional modes like Destruction Site Shootout, Horde Mode, and races, MindsEye is shaping up to have a variety of content offerings for players.

However, the game does not support multiplayer at launch. The initial version of MindsEye is solely single-player, with open-world elements added through a single-player free-roam mode. The only interaction you may initially have with other players is through a community creation tool. It intends to allow custom mission creation and sharing within the player base.

Will MindsEye Have Multiplayer in the Future?

Yes, MindsEye’s developer has promised the addition of multiplayer in their 2025 content rollout plan. Other future features include new missions, challenges, and assets. However, they have also stated that premium pass owners will receive extra missions and new packs throughout the game’s updates.

MindsEye is the first step in Build A Rocket Boy’s ambitious plan to create the Everywhere platform. Everywhere is envisioned as a free-to-play online platform that will allow players to develop their own games in the same vein as Roblox and Fortnite Creative. The concept has been in development since 2017 and went into closed beta testing in 2024. As MindsEye releases in June with content update plans of its own, it is unlikely that Everywhere will see the light of day for another year. MindsEye will feature on Everywhere whenever the platform launches, and will likely be a multiplayer game by that time.

When multiplayer is eventually introduced in MindsEye, it’s likely to mirror the game’s single-player DNA while expanding into cooperative and competitive play modes. Given the cinematic third-person gunplay and scripted combat encounters seen so far — ranging from claustrophobic corridor firefights to more open shootouts in trailer parks — multiplayer could bring new energy to these combat arenas. We might see team-based modes where players take on missions together, or possibly survival-style horde scenarios with shared objectives, building on the “Destruction Site Shootout” and other mission types already confirmed.
