Boruto is the sequel to one of the big three Shonen anime series, Naruto. As such, Naruto’s fate is never quite straightforward. As the story unfolds, new enemies threaten his achievements and the restfulness he achieved with so much trouble. Currently, Naruto is in danger but he is not dead. Thanks to Kawaki, Naruto and Hinata are in another dimension, away from the major threats.

Naruto became a powerful Hokage, dedicating his life to protecting the Hidden Leaf Village and his family. However, the risks of being a leader are real. His role often put him in dangerous situations. The arrival of new villains and the emergence of old enemies also add to the suspense.

The audience is then left to wonder if Naruto can actually save his loved ones in Boruto. This is a central theme of this series, and such is the bond he shares with his son, Boruto. Further into the plot, the question of whether or not Naruto survives keeps coming up.

Naruto’s Current Status

As of now, Naruto is not dead yet, but he is in danger. Recent chapters of the manga show major developments that involve Naruto and his family. After adopting Kawaki, Naruto became a father to him, saving him from one of the strongest villains of the series, Isshiki Otsutsuki.

However, Naruto losing Kurama’s powers left him significantly weakened. Kawaki had promised to protect Naruto from harm, especially from the clan of Otsutsuki. A new mission is now upon him in the form of killing all the Otsutsuki in existence, including the one living inside Boruto.

This complicated family situation gets worse when Kawaki, believing Naruto will get killed, sends him along with his wife, Hinata, into another dimension. The turn of events is shocking as it showcases how much Kawaki wants to protect his adopted father.

Who Wants to Kill Naruto in Boruto?

Jura as seen in manga (Credits: Shueisha)

In Boruto, Jura, as a God Tree clone, holds extreme hatred for Naruto Uzumaki. Jura’s hatred stems from his connection with Isshiki Otsutsuki, whom Naruto had defeated a long time ago when he was his enemy.

Even though Jura cannot provide a clear reason for such intense hatred toward Naruto, it seems that it originates from Isshiki himself. Jura may be on this quest for revenge due to his connection with the essence of Isshiki.

Jura is one of the essential characters among the God Tree clones, especially since the powers he wields closely resemble Isshiki’s, including levitation and the black cubes famously used by Isshiki. As such, he is even more menacing now, in light of his obsession with Naruto.

Although even Jura doesn’t know clearly why he wants to kill Naruto, his fixation has indeed proven terrifying. It appears to be an extension of the side conflicts his predecessors had with the Uzumaki clan. With Naruto now weakened, Jura will surely push the pursuit forward to a level that endangers not only Naruto but the whole Uzumaki family.

Kawaki’s Role in Naruto’s Current Status

Kawaki plays a crucial role in Naruto’s current status in Boruto. After having been rescued by Naruto and treated like a son, Kawaki swore allegiance to him. For Kawaki, Naruto is the one who saved him and to whom he owes everything. He would protect Naruto at all costs. Since Naruto has lost Kurama and his powers have significantly decreased, Kawaki is terrified that Naruto now has no defense against threats, especially from Otsutsuki.

To safeguard Naruto, Kawaki takes drastic measures. He thinks Boruto is actually possessed by Momoshiki Otsutsuki and is thus a direct threat to Naruto’s safety. Since he knows Naruto would never allow him to harm Boruto, Kawaki makes the bold decision to send Naruto and Hinata to another dimension, out of harm’s way.

Kawaki’s motivations, while protective, bring tension. He wants to eliminate all Otsutsuki, but that puts him on a collision course with Boruto. The conclusions he has drawn have greatly influenced Naruto’s current state.

Can Boruto Save Naruto?

Boruto is capable of saving Naruto, but it is not that easy. Naruto has been taken captive in another dimension. Knowing that he will face the fate of his father, Boruto feels a strong urge to bring him back.

Determined and feeling connected to Naruto like never before, Boruto has every reason to find a way. However, Kawaki, who sees Boruto as a threat to Naruto because of Momoshiki’s parasitic presence, is the obstacle. Boruto has to outsmart both Kawaki and Otsutsuki to save Naruto. Only time will tell how this situation turns out.
