Path of Exile (PoE2) didn’t have crossplay in the first installment. Have the developers enabled it for the sequel?
The first Path of Exile game was mainly a single-player experience and didn’t include crossplay because of it. While it had some multiplayer features, like trading and party play for friends, the game didn’t revolve around them. As for the crossplay feature, it wasn’t available in the first game.
This is primarily because the game was released in 2013 for PC users only. Later in the decade, it was first dropped on Xbox and then on Playstation. So, the developers didn’t have as much opportunity to play with this feature. Path of Exile 2, however, will feature crossplay.
If you have a gaming group that plays on different platforms, you can relax knowing that your friends will be able to join you whether you all play on a PC, Xbox Series, or the PS5. Moreover, the game also features couch co-op.
So, if you have a buddy over at your place and you two wish to tackle a boss fight together, you can easily do so. You can either collaborate using the same account that is logged in on the system or have the second player log in from their own account.
Crossplay Brings More Features to Path of Exile 2
Grinding Gear Games introduced crossplay in Path of Exile 2, which was a new feature in the series to begin with. Additionally, they also brought couch co-op with it. Players can test these features in the Early Access of the game. But this is not the only new feature that the game introduces to make things convenient for the players.
Developers even introduced cross-progression this time around. This means that you can log in with the same account on any of the platforms and not lose any of your progress in the game. This is particularly helpful for gamers who own more than one gaming platform and don’t wish to progress separately on each one.
This is a big leap from the last game where you couldn’t even crossplay. Path of Exile 2 seems to have made a lot of progress in terms of the multiplayer aspect.
