Mad Mixer is a unique boss fight in Donkey Kong Bananza, but it is also quite simple to defeat. Here is how to do so.
Donkey Kong and Pauline’s journey to the core of the planet is not without its own set of dangers. Along the way you will face a long list of bosses, each with their own mechanics, attacks, and weaknesses. One of the bosses you encounter is the Mad Mixer. This machine-like entity is fought in the Banandium Refinery (Sublayer 301) of the Canyon Layer. You have to defeat Grumpy Kong to get to this boss. Here is how to defeat this malicious mixer.

This boss fight is quite unique compared to the others. This is because you do not get close to the boss for the entire fight. Instead, you are circling the boss on a cart. Along the way, you will pick up many explosives, which you can lob at the boss to deal damage. Once you pick up an explosive, aim and toss the projectile using the ZR button. However, Mad Mixer won’t just stand around while you attempt this. It will have various defensive measures that you must overcome if you are to damage it.
Firstly, you will notice the barriers surrounding the Void Co. entity. You must either break these walls with your explosives, or aim in the gaps between them. Either method works. Secondly, it will fire back lasers in front of you, forcing you to jump to avoid them. Initially, it will only be a single laser at a time, which is easy to avoid. However, it gets harder over time.
Moreover, when its health drops to around 40%, it puts up more defensive barriers and starts shooting out lasers in groups of three. You must repeatedly jump three times in quick succession to avoid these. Mad Mixer will also be moving vertically up and down occasionally throughout the duration of the fight.
Tips and Tricks To Beat Mad Mixer in Donkey Kong Bananza
- Mad Mixer stays in one spot, so you won’t need to move your crosshair horizontally much.
- Try to stock up on as many explosives as possible. You can spam a lot of them at once when you see an appropriate gap or make one yourself.
- The upper level of the arena is great for damaging Mad Mixer, as you can aim it at the top portion of the boss and get past its defenses.
