YouTube and Rumble streamer Herchel “DrDisrespect” Beahm tried the new Call of Duty X Squid Game collaboration update on January 7, 2025. After waiting in queue for a while, he expressed his frustration with the game.

He claimed that the Call of Duty player base thinned down due to poor updates and blamed the Squid Game collaboration. The streamer felt that all the new players Black Ops 6 gained left the game recently.

DrDisrespect primarily plays first-person shooters and has been unhappy with collaboration events since 2023. He feels that the developers do not reinvest the money into the game and that we “need to bring the culture of this industry back”

DrDisrespect Has Been Unhappy With Call of Duty Collaborations Since 2023

Call of Duty has started pushing collaboration events in recent years. The game added dozens of collab skins featuring Snoop Dogg, Lionel Messi, Rambo, Terminator, Squid Game, and many others. He first complained about the collab events during his September 27, 2023 stream. He said:

“The state of this industry, I don’t know where we’re at, man. It’s not what I grew up with. It was literally about playing the games and the fun aspect of interacting with games, but now people are getting hyped off high-production video pieces. We need to bring the culture of this industry back.”

He criticized almost every event since then and expressed his discontent with not just the events but also game updates, the anti-cheat, and balance changes. During his January 7, 2025 stream, he raised similar concerns after not getting a match in 30 minutes. He criticized the Squid Game update saying:

“So we had to take a break, and got our Marvel Rivals Gold to Platinum checkmark. Now we’re here, back in Warzone, taking thirty minutes just to find a solo game ’cause no one’s playing this game. I saw some stats, I think the game lost its entire player base and potentially more.”

The Streamer Is Moving His Content to Rumble

DrDisrespect returned to streaming on YouTube after a hiatus from content creation. He joined Rumble to lead the gaming division. In an official announcement, Rumble said:

“As part of an agreement that includes equity with milestones as a majority of its compensation, Dr Disrespect will provide exclusive content to Rumble Premium for his ‘Champions Club’ community.”

The streamer has almost 80,000 followers on the new platform and his latest stream gained over 248,000 views. For comparison, the same livestream had almost 400,000 views on YouTube. However, YouTube allegedly demonetized his channel in light of recent controversies surrounding the streamer.

The streamer allegedly contacted a minor inappropriately which led to his removal from Twitch. He later claimed that those allegations were false. He implied he would leave YouTube for Rumble but still streams on both platforms.
