Beyond the Sands is the first quest of Twilight Chapter 1 in Duet Night Abyss. Here, you play as the Captain, the second main character, exploring Lonza Fortress deep inside the Sandrealm. This mission connects directly to the next quest called A Vibrant Heart once you finish it. You can start Beyond the Sands after clearing every mission in the Noctoyager Chapter 1 storyline.
The quest begins with the Captain waking up from a haunting dream. You will walk toward a glowing sword, touch it, and the scene shifts to a fight against a Filthoid. Quick time events will appear, and you need to press the right buttons to survive. Once you finish this short battle, the quest officially starts. Make sure your main character and weapons are around level 30. This helps with the early fights without too much struggle.

How To Complete Beyond the Sands in Duet Night Abyss
1. Defeat the Battle Maven
After the dream fight, follow the marker to leave the area. Once you interact with the sword, you wake up in Lonza Fortress and face your first big challenge, The Battle Maven. She fights aggressively, using short-range combos and fast knife throws.
2. Proceed to the Emergency Aid Station
Once you defeat the boss, you can explore Lonza Fortress. Along the way, you will find closed gates powered by devices called Phoxynamos. Hit the device once to turn it on and open the gate. Two of these need to be activated before you can reach the aid station. There you will meet Daphne, a medic from the Legion. Talk to Urien and Anita nearby to check on them.
Daphne will ask you for more supplies. So, you need to head toward the storage area. A transformer puzzle blocks the path. Flip the switch on the wall to change which doors stay open. This puzzle is simple: activate it to open one door and close others. Once you grab the first aid kit, flip the switch again to return to the aid station. A cutscene then starts where Filthoids invade the fortress. You will have to step outside to defend the gate.
3. Defend the Gate and Fend Off the Filthoids
The battle happens in two waves. During the first wave, stay close to the gate. In the second wave, your superior Avar will join you as a support character. After both waves are over, go back inside and talk to Daphne. This ends the quest and sets up the next story mission, A Vibrant Heart.
