Dying Light The Beast is not a very long game, and you will finish it off pretty easily. You will end up spending most of your time doing one of two things – parkour to run away from zombies, or actually killing zombies with extreme prejudice. In both these cases, your difficulty setting determines the level of challenge that the game offers you. Other than enemies being tougher, your stamina also becomes a key factor when you amp up the difficulty.

There are three difficulty settings in Dying Light The Beast, and each of them offer a different experience. You can change these at any time during the game, which makes fine tuning your experience much easier. In this article, we will explain all the difficulty settings in Dying Light The Beast in details.

All Difficulty Settings in Dying Light The Beast

There are three difficulty settings in Dying Light The Beast:

  • Story
  • Survival
  • Brutal

Here is a detailed explanation of each difficulty setting:

Story Difficulty Mode

Story difficulty mode in Dying Light The Beast has the following properties:

  • Enemies are easy to beat and their attacks deal less damage to you.
  • You burn less stamina with your combat actions.
  • No XP is lost when you die.
  • Resource management is easier – you find more resources during exploration.
  • Armor provides higher resistance.
  • Your weapons break very slowly.

With those properties, the Story difficulty mode is the easiest one that you can choose in Dying Light The Beast. If you have never played any game from this franchise before, or you are just looking to have a fun time with your friends in co-op, this is the ideal mode to choose.

Survival Difficulty Mode

These are the properties of the Survival difficulty mode in Dying Light The Beast:

  • Enemies pose a significant threat to you. They deal more damage and are tougher to take down.
  • Combat actions use up a significant amount of your stamina.
  • You lose XP when you die.
  • Resources are scarce. You need to be careful with your crafting actions.
  • Armor is weaker, and weapons need proper maintenance and repairs.

Survival difficulty offers a standard level of challenge in Dying Light The Beast. It is not the easiest mode, and if you are a someone who does not want a cakewalk, this is the right mode for you.

Brutal Difficulty Mode

The Brutal difficulty mode is dangerous and has the following properties:

  • Enemies pose a serious threat right from the beginning. They deal massive damage, and adapt to your tactics and playstyle.
  • Stamina is a crucial resource. Your actions consume more stamina and it regenerates very slowly as well.
  • You lose a lot of XP when you die. However, you also find more XP while looting.
  • Resource management becomes extremely crucial. Merchants offer less items during the early stages, and your armor offers very little protection.

If you are a Dying Light veteran, the Brutal difficulty mode is the right one for you. It amps up the challenge to the maximum, and you will greatly need to rely on strategy more than a random hack-and-slash nature.
