The Grappling Hook was the most fun tool in both the Dying Light games and is now back once again in Dying Light The Beast. The Grappling Hook allows you to grapple onto any surface on the map like Spider-Man, letting you swing off the surface and fly into the air. This tool is not only fun, but it is also incredibly useful when trying to drop off a few volatiles on your tail.

Finding the Grappling Hook, however, is a different beast of its own. In the original Dying Light, you got the tool at the very end of a skill tree, while in the second, it was through story progression. The Beast takes cues from the latter, granting you the tool at a certain point in the story. If you’re wondering where this point is, keep reading to find out. How To Get the Grappling Hook in Dying Light The Beast

You acquire the Grappling Hook during the Some Like It Dark quest in Dying Light The Beast. This is the ninth main story mission in the game and marks roughly the halfway point of the game. The Some Like It Dark quest puts you in the crosshairs of the Baron once again, and Jacob seemingly gives you a way out by informing you of a group of exiles hiding amidst the mountains.

The Grappling Hook is like any other tool in your inventory, and using it requires you to first equip it. Open your inventory and place the Grappling Hook into any of your tool slots. You then have to press the corresponding button for that tool slot to begin using the powerful traversal tool.

There’s no dedicated button for using this item, and this tool takes up space that you could have given to another tool. If you switch over to another tool for a brief period, make sure to switch back to the hook later on. Forgetting it in the heat of a chase could cost your life, and thereby some XP.
