This guide will bring all the tips from the early-access, which new players should know before hopping into the full release of Hades 2.
Hades 2 has been in Early Access for well over a year and is finally having a full release on September 25. 2025. Many players will not have tried out the early access and instead opted to play the full release to experience everything the game has to offer at once.
This guide will help new players by using knowledge from the early access of the game. There are no story-related spoilers, just general advice aimed at helping you succeed faster.
Early Access Tips To Know Before Starting the Full Release of Hades 2
Here are five things you should know before thrashing into Tartarus:
- Argent Skull
- Zeus
- Underworld Before Surface
- Strength Arcana
- Max out the Grasp
Argent Skull
Hades 2 has no shortage of weapons to choose from. However, not all of them perform as well as others. One standout among these is the Argent Skull, which has become a community favorite due to its high damage scaling and unique gameplay.
On top of this, the weapon is not extremely hard to master either, which means you should be able to pick it up pretty quickly. The Aspect of Medea is the best choice for this Nocturnal Arm.
Zeus
The king of Olympus is king for a reason. Zeus remained the strongest god during early access for a large part, despite receiving some nerfs in the latest Unseen update. Zeus is a very flexible god, and his boons are usable in almost any build you might think to make.
His duo boon with Hera is his main source of dealing damage. Therefore, you should not ignore Zeus, especially until you are familiar with the rest of the gods in the game.
Underworld Before Surface
You are offered two paths to start your run: the Surface, which leads to Mount Olympus, or the Underworld, which leads to the House of Hades. Of the two, the Surface is definitely the harder side overall. Therefore, you might want to consider going down first, just to get some practice.
Once you are confident in your ability to fight, head above ground and assist the Olympians in the siege against their home. This is not a hard and fast rule, more of a suggestion, since you need to go both ways to gather various materials anyway.
Strength Arcana
While selecting your Arcana, you might be tempted to select Death to gain Death Defiance. However, for low-heat runs, Strength is actually the better card to use until your healing gets reduced.
This might not be noticeable at the start, since Death Defiance is a really strong ability, especially for beginners.
Max Out Grasp
This is interconnected with the previous point. The Arcana system has some of the most powerful permanent buffs you can gain. However, you need to increase your Grasp to select more Arcana cards.
Therefore, it is recommended that you gain more Psyche (which in turn will increase your Grasp). Unlocking more Arcana slots will be a huge step forward in clearing the game much more easily.
