Elden Ring Nightreign currently has two modes that you can play. The first is the multiplayer mode, which you play with two other players, and the second is solo expeditions. However, solo mode is quite difficult in comparison to multiplayer.

At release, solo expeditions were highly unbalanced. You gained fewer runes, and enemies had higher than normal health. Fortunately, all that was fixed in the version 1.01.1 patch, which reworked the solo mode to make it much more single-player-friendly. However, the rework won’t help you win the expedition on its own.

Currently, there are a total of eight Nightfarers or classes you can choose from. Some of the characters are much more suited than others for solo mode gameplay, as each class has different skills and ultimates. Therefore, to win solo expeditions, you first have to choose the right character, which is Wylder

This guide covers why Wylder is the best character for solo mode in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Wylder’s Abilities are Best for Solo Mode in Elden Ring Nightreign

Wylder is the first character you start as when you play Elden Ring Nightreign. He is a melee knight with great scaling in health. In other words, as you level up, you are going to have more health than most other characters.

His character skill uses a grappling hook that damages and brings smaller enemies closer to you. Consequently, when used on bosses or larger enemies, it brings you closer to them. However, the best part of the grappling hook is that you can use it along with the Slate Whetstone to get the fire attribute on your weapon while using the hook.

Wylder’s Ultimate is one of the best ultimates in the game for any mode. Using it makes Wylder thrust an explosive iron stake in front of him. Not only does the explosion do a lot of damage, but it staggers any enemy in the entire game, which means you get a free critical hit on anything. The other great thing about the ultimate is that you are invulnerable during the entire animation.

Multiple Revives When Using Wylder

When playing solo mode in Elden Ring Nightreign, your topmost priority is surviving. Like in multiplayer mode, you don’t have anyone to revive you on death. But when using Wylder, you can get a total of four revives upon reaching the final boss on your run. Here’s how:

  • Wylder’s passive ability, Sixth Sense, gives you a free revive. You dodge the lethal attack with a quick backspin.
  • Since the version 1.01.1 update, you get a free revive in the boss arena once per expedition.
  • You can buy two Wending Graces per expedition. Wending Grace is an item that revives you with full health when used. You have to die to use this item. Lastly, you can buy one from any in-game merchant for 10000 runes, and another from the final merchant before the boss for the same price.

With four revives, a mobility skill, and an instant stagger ultimate, Wylder becomes the best class that you can use during solo mode in Elden Ring Nightreign.
