The bosses in Elden Ring Nightreign are easily the biggest highlight of the game. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, coming from FromSoftware. While the ones in the base game were already quite challenging, they still weren’t “challenging enough,” as is evident from the new Everdark Sovereign Expeditions. With the most recent update, FromSoftware added the new Everdark Sovereign Expedition to the game.

This special Expedition features empowered versions of the base game bosses (Nightlords). Similar to a live-service game, these bosses follow a weekly rotation system. The first boss introduced with Everdark Sovereign was Empowered Adel (Gaping Jaw).

With the Expedition nearing its weekly reset, we now know the next boss that will be replacing it. In the upcoming Everdark Sovereign, players will face the empowered variant of Fulghor (Darkdrift Knight). Here’s everything you need to know about the Enhanced Darkdrift Knight encounter in Elden Ring Nightreign and its release date.

Note: This article contains minor spoilers for the Enhanced Darkdrift Knight’s third phase and movesets.

When Is Enhanced Darkdrift Knight Coming to Elden Ring Nightreign?

The Enhanced Darkdrift Knight (Fulghor, Champion of Nightglow) is coming to the Everdark Sovereign on June 26, 2025, at 7 PM PDT. Since the boss was already added with the last update, there won’t be a title or regulation patch to enable the new Everdark Sovereign. Instead, the boss will simply replace Adel, Baron of Night, in the Expeditions menu. Do note that, in order to access the Darkdrift Knight’s Everdark Sovereign, you must first defeat the regular variant of the boss.

If you’re having trouble with Fulghor, we highly recommend using Lightning weapons. Furthermore, our recommended Nightfarers for the boss are Wylder, Raider, Executor, and Ironeye.

Ironeye, in particular, works really well against Fulghor, especially with either a Lightning or a Frost Bow. Once you have defeated the regular Darkdrift Knight, you will be able to access the Everdark Sovereign Expedition for the boss.

Since the code for the enhanced bosses (Adel, Gnoster, and Fulghor) was already added to the game with the last update, modders were quick to datamine them well before the weekly resets. Thanks to them, we know the new moveset and abilities of the Darkdrift Knight even before the boss is available in-game. Much like Adel before him, Enhanced Fulghor starts the battle directly in his second phase. However, once the boss’s health drops to around 75%, he rises into the air and gains a new arm that isn’t corrupted by the Night.

The boss also gains access to two new attacks. The first is a Holy Greatbow combo, which is very similar to Loretta’s Greatbow spell, though much faster. The second and more deadly combo involves a new Holy Twinblade, which the boss uses to chain a 5-hit attack. Lightning still appears to work against Fulghor. However, in the third phase, the boss’s resistances are increased.
