Although co-op has been present in some aspect in Souls games over several years, Elden Ring Nightreign focuses on the Multiplayer mode and positions itself as a multiplayer co-op title meant to be played with friends.

ERN has two main modes that take players to eight expeditions, going through a cycle of day and night for two days until the Nightfarers finally reach Day 3 to take on the Night Lord. Let’s take a look at how the solo and multiplayer modes work in Elden Ring Nightreign.

As of now, Elden Ring Nightreign has only two game modes. However, FromSoftware recently mentioned that they have plans to introduce a two-player mode in the future. Players can switch between the modes before starting an expedition, allowing both online and offline sessions.

Follow the below-mentioned steps to be able to switch between the two game modes in Elden Ring Nightreign:

  • Go to System settings
  • Click on the Network tab
  • Change the Launch Setting to Play Online or Play Offline based on your requirement

Players on PlayStation must remember that a PS Plus membership is required to play the Expeditions with your friends or to start matchmaking with other online players. Regardless, the solo mode can be played in offline mode, without an internet connection.
