Everything you need to know about the Enhanced Augur (Maris) in Elden Ring Nightreign, and how to easily defeat it.

With the release of Elden Ring Nightreign’s latest title update, a new Everdark Sovereign has been added to the game, and it’s easily the toughest these special Expeditions have been, so far. Everdark (Enhanced) Augur might not be as agile as Adel, but it certainly isn’t a pushover. Much like Enhanced Sentient Pest, Augur has two phases with full health bars. However, what separates Augur from the rest of the Everdark bosses is the gimmick behind the battle. Enhanced Augur is essentially a nod to one of FromSoftware’s original “Souls” games, Demon’s Souls.
While the boss is quite challenging, there’s a rather easy way to defeat it. Here’s everything you need to know about Enhanced Augur in Elden Ring Nightreign, and how to easily defeat it.
Overview of the Enhanced Augur in Elden Ring Nightreign

Enhanced Augur, much like other Everdark Nightlords, is a significantly more challenging version of its regular counterpart. However, with Everdark Augur, FromSoftware has tried something completely different. Instead of just reworking the regular Augur’s second phase with a few new attacks, for the Enhanced Augur, FromSoftware introduced a completely new mechanic and phase. Enhanced Augur doesn’t have access to a few new attacks. Instead, the boss has a whole new phase, which comes with completely new attacks, as well as an entirely different way to deal with it.
In its second phase, Enhanced Augur essentially becomes Elden Ring’s version of the Stormking from Demon’s Souls. You even get a Legendary weapon to tackle the boss, akin to the Stormruler or the Serpent-Hunter. Using the weapon’s Ash of War is essentially the key to defeating Enhanced Augur.
Weaknesses of Enhanced Augur
For Enhanced Augur, weaknesses don’t really matter since you’ll eventually have to switch over to the boss’s weapon mid-battle. However, for the first phase, Augur is mostly weak to Lightning. Apart from that, the boss is quite susceptible to stagger and stance-break from physical attacks, which you can capitalize on if you’re using Nightfarers like Raider or Wylder.
In addition to that, Augur is also weak to Bleed and Frostbite. You can also use Fire against the boss. However, Lightning is the best option against Augur, at least in the first phase. For the second phase, you’ll primarily be dealing Magic damage using the boss’s weapon.
Tips To Easily Defeat Enhanced Augur in Elden Ring Nightreign

Here are some tips that will help you easily defeat Enhanced Augur:
- The first phase is basically a retread of the regular Augur, barring the second phase. Additionally, the first phase has roughly one-third the HP of the regular version, which makes it quite easy to kill. However, the real boss fight only starts after you’ve defeated the first phase.
- Before heading to the boss arena, make sure you pick up two things – Starlight Shards (one is enough) and Boiled Crabs (for additional defense). Also, make sure to leave one space empty in your weapon inventory. After defeating the first phase, make sure to pick the weapon that Augur drops. It is essentially the starting armament your Nightfarer starts with, albeit at Legendary tier and with a special Ash of War.
- The second phase is essentially a gimmick boss fight, where you need to use Augur’s weapon to deal damage to the boss. It is possible to deal damage to Augur with your chosen weapon, but the boss is incredibly resilient to other weapons. Think of this boss like Rykard (Elden Ring) or Yhrom the Giant (Dark Souls 3).
- While using the weapon’s Ash of War will deplete your FP, you can regenerate it by charging the weapon. Basically, holding the “weapon skill button” will charge the Ash of War, which in turn refills FP. And this applies to all Nightfarers; you don’t need to use Recluse to regain FP.
- The second phase is all about dodging the boss’s projectiles and AoE attacks and landing your own attacks using the Ash of War. You can also counter Augur’s “dive” and projectiles using a well-timed Ash of War attack.
Additional Notes
We highly recommend equipping at least one Relic that increases your HP (Vigor) and also Magic damage. Regular Augur, as well as Dark Fulghor’s Relics, are really useful against Enhanced Augur.
