Everything you need to know about the Everdark Fissure in the Fog in Elden Ring Nightreign, and how to easily defeat it.

Everdark Sovereign Nightlords are easily the toughest challenge you will face in Elden Ring Nightreign. Despite that, if you go in with a well-optimized loadout of Relics and passives, you can easily come out victorious on these Expeditions. Even for the more “gimmicky” bosses like Everdark Augur, there are ways to make the battle easier by stacking passives that you can get on almost any random run. However, that doesn’t really apply to the newly added Everdark Nightlord, Fissure in the Fog, aka, Caligo, Miasma of Night. The Everdark Caligo is one of the few bosses in Nightreign that requires you to use the Shifting Earth events to your advantage.
While it might sound a tad overwhelming at first, once you figure out the boss’s weaknesses and how to use Shifting Earth against it, Everdark Caligo is quite easy to deal with. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to defeat Everdark Fissure in the Fog in Elden Ring Nightreign.
Overview of Everdark Fissure in the Fog in Elden Ring Nightreign

Everdark Fissure in the Fog is roughly identical to its regular counterpart, albeit with one key difference. Unlike the regular Caligo, the Everdark version can inflict Frostbite more often, and also has access to a new Ice Shard attack, which lingers for much longer and deals instant Frostbite on contact. Furthermore, in the second phase, the boss covers herself with a veil of Ice, which increases her defenses. However, the same veil also serves as one of the major weak points of the Nightlord. Structurally, the Everdark Caligo is very similar to Velkhana from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. And similarly to Velkhana’s Ice Armor, you can break Caligo’s Ice Veil as well.
Unlike Everdark Augur, where elemental (affinity) damage doesn’t work all that well in the second phase, Everdark Caligo is extremely weak to it, even in her second phase. Also, you can further boost your damage with the buff from Mountaintop Shifting Earth. In fact, for three-player mode, getting the buff is more or less mandatory due to the amount of HP buff the boss receives.
Weaknesses of Everdark Fissure in the Fog
Much like its regular version, the Everdark Fissure in the Fog is weak to Fire and Bleed. It is also susceptible to Scarlet Rot and Lightning. However, Fire is the best option against Caligo. Furthermore, in the boss’s second phase, having a Fire weapon is necessary to break through her veil and apply the defense down debuff. Thankfully, Fire Camps are way more common than Lightning or Holy. As such, you won’t have too much trouble finding a good Fire Weapon on every run. As for the best choices, if you’re using Wylder or Raider, you cannot go wrong with Colossal Weapons with Fire affinity, or Colossal Greatswords with the same element. Furthermore, for Legendaries, the best options are Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear, Morgott’s Curved Sword, Devourer’s Scepter, Blasphemous Blade, and Grafted Dragon.
Tips To Easily Defeat Everdark Fissure in the Fog

Here are some tips to easily defeat the Everdark Fissure in the Fog in Elden Ring Nightreign:
- For the first phase, you don’t need much outside of plenty of poise damage and Fire affinity damage. However, unlike most bosses, Caligo doesn’t stay in her first phase for too long.
- After her health goes below 25%, Caligo goes into her second phase and covers herself in an armor of ice. This is where you need to break her veil with Fire damage. Additionally, breaking the boss’s poise is also a good option to break her armor.
- At the start of the second phase, you want to stay away from the boss as she usually follows up the transition with an Ice Shard combo, which deals a ton of Frost damage.
- For the new Ice Nuke attack, the easiest way to avoid getting Frostbite is to run away from the boss up to a medium distance. If you’re using Executor, you can parry the Ice wave.
- In the second phase, your primary objective is going to be to break Caligo’s armor. She has armor on her head, abdomen, and tail. You can easily break the armor with Fire damage. Otherwise, you can use Colossal Weapons to break her poise.
Additional Notes
Everdark Caligo is an easy boss fight for melee characters. However, ranged Nightfarers like Ironeye, Recluse, and even Revenant might find it a bit more challenging. However, with the buff from the Mountaintop Shifting Earth, you can easily defeat the boss. While you will still take Frost damage, the buff will negate a Frost build from the shards, which adds a lot to survivability.
