Originally seen in Dark Souls, the Centipede Demon has crawled out of the Demon Ruins to terrorize the Nightfarers of Elden Ring Nightreign. With multiple writhing centipedes sprouting from the bipedal demon’s body, the boss is a classic specimen of FromSoftware nightmare fuel. However, defeating it is deceptively easy if you know a few key tips and tricks.

Overview of the Centipede Demon in Elden Ring Nightreign

The Centipede Demon is a Night 1 Boss that can appear during the Sentient Pest, Equilibrious Beast, and Night Aspect expeditions. The boss has a diverse moveset, capable of dealing AoE damage at close range and lashing out against ranged Nightfarers at a distance. Nevertheless, it is one of the easiest bosses you can face on the first night and can be comfortably beaten by a team of three regardless of their level.

Weaknesses of the Centipede Demon

Like most Dark Souls bosses appearing on Night 1, the Centipede Demon’s main weakness is its slow movement and attack speed. Its attacks are clearly telegraphed, and ranged fighters will have an easy time kiting it. Status ailments and elements like Bleed, Frost, and Holy are quite effective against the Centipede Demon. Predictably, it is resistant to fire damage.

Dealing heavy damage to the main centipede head will stagger the boss. The main head can be identified by the two rows of flames sprouting from it. Attack the head while the boss is staggered to perform a critical strike.

Attacking its tail or other centipede limbs will separate them from its body. However, the limbs have a life of their own and will start attacking you. Damaging the detached limbs does not reduce the boss’s health, so you should avoid attacking them. Focus your attacks on the boss’s head and legs.

Tips To Easily Defeat the Centipede Demon

  • Melee fighters can stay under the Centipede Demon to hack away at its legs and midriff. However, look out for the loudly telegraphed leg stomps, fire explosions, and jumping attacks.
    • Stay behind the boss’s legs while facing its head for the best position. It will allow you to avoid most attacks and provide ample warning for the rest.
  • Ranged fighters need to watch out for the demon’s long-range attack. When the demon pulls back one of its centipede arms and angles toward you, it will extend the centipede at an astonishing speed to strike you across the battlefield. Dodge the attack by rolling as soon as the centipede is launched.
  • When the boss jumps, dodge away from its position to avoid the ground slam or flame attack.
