Elden Ring Nightreign may be a roguelike, but it still feels familiar to anyone who has played Elden Ring. The map retains the aesthetic of the original game, and the enemies you face are all familiar faces. Even mechanically, the game’s movement remains largely the same, and so do the healing mechanics

Character progression remains an important part of the game, with leveling up now simplified and easier to accommodate the fast-paced nature of the game. The game retains the weapon upgrade system, too, but you wouldn’t know it because getting a Smithing Stone is seemingly impossible. Yes, Elden Ring Nightreign has a weapon upgrade system, but in quite a few of our early runs, we never got the chance to engage with it. Even if we somehow managed to find an anvil to upgrade, we were short on Smithing Stones.

Smithing Stones are essential items that help you upgrade your weapons and make them stronger. These stones increase the damage your weapons deal and are a must if you wish to deal any damage at all to the Nightlord’s massive HP bar. They may be difficult to find, but if you know where to look, obtaining them is easy. If you’re looking for the Smithing Stones but don’t know where to look, we’re here to help.

There are quite a few ways to obtain Smithing Stones in Elden Ring Nightreign. If you believe you have good luck, your best bet is to obtain it as drops from enemies. We recommend raiding enemy camps and forts. This way, you get to fight a larger number of enemies, increasing your chances of obtaining the stone. Furthermore, these encampments also have chests and boxes you can loot. You may also find the stone within those.

If you don’t find the stones at the enemy encampments, we recommend finding a merchant. The merchants all sell items, one of which is the Smithing Stone. You can purchase the stones from a merchant for 6,000 Runes per piece.

If you’re looking to upgrade the rarer weapons in the game (weapons with colored background cards), you’ll need to find the Smithing Stone 2. You can’t find this anywhere in the overworld. Instead, you need to obtain it through the minibosses across the map. These bosses have a chance of dropping the stones, which you can then use to upgrade higher-tier weapons.
