Elden Ring Nightreign is FromSoft’s latest title with a high focus on the multiplayer aspect. In this game, you play as a Nightfarer, along with two other people, to vanquish the Nightlord. There are a total of eight expeditions in the game, and each features a different final boss. Moreover, each expedition lasts for three in-game nights, which gives your team time to prepare.

Unfortunately, with all the hard boss battles and deaths, it is quite common for players to leave the runs. This can occur due to technical errors, causing you to boot out of the app or quit it intentionally. The great thing is that there is a leave penalty for such players who exit mid-expedition. Here’s a guide to help you understand how the leave penalty works in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Players leaving mid-game in matches is inevitable in most multiplayer titles, including Nightreign. You play with two other players as a team of three. However, if someone leaves the expedition, it does not stop. The remaining two players have to continue by themselves.

Fortunately, if someone leaves the game intentionally, they are given a warning the first time. But if they quit again, the game punishes the player with a leave penalty, which bans them from participating in any multiplayer services Elden Ring Nightreign offers. The leave penalty is enforced for roughly 15 minutes the first time. Additionally, the ban period keeps increasing each time the player leaves future expeditions.

Do note that anyone with a leave penalty can still play solo expeditions and in offline mode. But with how the game functions, full team expeditions offer a better experience compared to playing solo. As of now, there is no way to bypass the leave penalty except by waiting for it to end.

How To Avoid Leave Penalty in Elden Ring Nightreign

Here are some tips that can help you avoid getting a leave penalty:

  • Do not leave expeditions. Nightreign is a difficult game; everyone starts with different skill levels. Getting an inexperienced player is part of multiplayer games.

  • If your teammate left, do not leave the game. You get the leave penalty no matter how many players are left in the team.

  • If you get booted out of the game due to technical problems, run the app and rejoin your expedition to avoid the leave penalty.
