Elon Musk unfollowed Asmongold on January 16, 2025, and the streamer speculated that it was because of the Path of Exile 2 controversy.
Elon Musk recently made waves for conducting an X livestream to play Path of Exile 2. However, the 53-year-old did not do well, as some netizens suspected him of using an account that had been boosted by other gamers. Later, Asmongold made a big offer to Elon Musk, considering the world’s richest man could verify he really reached level 97 in Path of Exile 2 since reports circulated that Musk was pushed by another highly competent player to move him up the ranks. He further said,
“If Elon Musk can prove that he played this account to 97, I will stream on X [formerly Twitter], starting the day that he proves it, for an entire year straight, every single stream.”
During a livestream on January 15, 2025, Asmongold was responding to posts on his official subreddit when one of his viewers alerted him that Elon Musk had unfollowed him on the social media platform. The streamer speculated that Musk was “not happy” about a video regarding the Path of Exile (PoE) 2 dispute. He said,
“‘Elon unfollowed Asmon.’ He’s probably not happy about the PoE video. He’ll get over it. Listen, it was so obvious! You cannot get mad at me for bringing this up. Everybody was talking about this! Come on, man! Come on! What is this? ‘He responded about it.’ You know what’s really funny about it… is I saw that. Let me see if I can pull it up and find it.”
