Escape From Duckov does not hold your hand when it comes to surviving in the wild. While being a simple extraction shooter, there are a lot of things the game does not explain, as finding new stuff highly depends on exploration and reading secret notes scattered around the map.

To help you out, here are some tips and tricks that you can use as a beginner in Escape From Duckov

Here are some tips and tricks that are pretty useful in the early game:

Complete All Quests

Escape From Duckov has many NPCs that you can talk to, who give you different quests in return. It is very important to complete certain quests, as doing so unlocks better loot that makes you stronger. The most important NPCs in the game that you should listen to are Jeff and the Armour/Weapon Specialists.

It is recommended to go out in your runs with at least one quest as your target, so that you don’t get overwhelmed when having dozens of quests at the same time. Moreover, some quests are locked to certain areas or weapons, so check before heading out to avoid wasting time.

Increase Backpack Space and Carry Weight

When it comes to looting in Escape From Duckov, it is always best to bring back as many items as you can. However, having less backpack space and carrying weight can hinder you quite a lot. Therefore, always loot a higher-tier backpack off enemies when you visit new areas, as it is the only way to obtain the max-level backpack during the early-to-mid game.

However, to increase your carry weight, you have to train yourself with Mud, who is an NPC in the Ground Zero region. You can complete a few of his quests to permanently make him move to your hideout, where he can train your different physical aspects, with one being the carrying weight of your duck.

Do Not Go Out at Night

Every region in the game becomes much harder at night. You don’t only face enemy ducks in the dark, but robot spiders spawn on key locations and roads to hinder your journey. Moreover, the robots are very tough opponents, as a single one is capable of killing you while using high-tier armour.

You can simply sleep in your bed in your hideout to pass the time and make it morning to have an easier time out in the wild.

Enhance Your Skills

Your hideout has a Skill Enhancement machine that you can use to enhance different skills in Escape From Duckov. These require levels, money, and cores, which are easily obtainable in the early game. It is recommended to upgrade skills that increase your vision and backpack space, as both help immensely during your time in the wild.

Don’t Get Greedy

When you are full of loot or become slow due to high weight, it is always best to extract and leave the map. Moreover, when you have quest essential items or high-priced loot, you should return quickly to avoid dying and losing everything. Each region in the game has multiple extraction points, which you can use to return. Therefore, if you find yourself low on resources or full of loot, return so you can leave the next day.

Note that if you die in the wild, you lose all your items. In addition, you get one chance to retrieve them by returning there the next day. However, if you die again during that process, your previous loot bag despawns.
