Having difficulty maintaining your hunger and thirst in Escape From Duckov? Here’s a guide to help you out.

Escape From Duckov is a challenging extraction shooter, where everything is out to kill you in the wild, including hunger and thirst. You can find lots of food items that you can loot, which either replenish food, water, or both. However, some items can make you thirsty instead of satisfying your hunger. Therefore, you cannot eat just about anything you see first in a loot crate.
To help you out, here’s how you can manage hunger and thirst in Escape From Duckov.
Managing Hunger and Thirst in Escape From Duckov

In Escape From Duckov, there are two main areas you need to manage regarding hunger and thirst: your Energy and Hydration meters. These appear at the bottom left corner of your screen at every moment of the game. Both the meters start going down the moment you step out of the base, at a fixed rate at first. There are negative effects when both meter reaches zero, which are:
- Hungry: You start to lose one health point every second.
- Dehydrated: Your most physical functions are greatly reduced. For example, running slower or having less vision.
Therefore, it is best to always carry a few food items that can replenish both hunger and thirst in the wild without causing negative effects. Here are some of them:
- Cocoa Milk
- Pumpkin
- Carrot
- Dumpling
- Water Bottle
- Cola
- Potato
If you are going on long expeditions, it is highly advisable to carry some of these in your inventory.

Reduce Hunger and Thirst Gaining Rate
During mid-game, you can invite an NPC named Mud to your hideout. His house is in the middle of Ground Zero, and you have to bring him a few food items as part of his quest to make him move. Later on, he provides a quest to invite a Fisherman to the base, who can reduce the rate at which your Energy and Hydration bar reduces, in return for money and food items.
It is highly recommended to obtain at least five levels’ worth of the Fisherman’s upgrades to reduce food concerns when looting in large areas like the Farm Town.
