Fiefdom vs Vassal Explained For Europa Universalis 5 (EU5)
Before you find out what separates them, you must understand how they are similar. In essence, both of these are subjects of your nation. They can both be annexed after a period of 10 years, and if their opinion of you is 150 or higher.
The Overlord also gets similar construction powers within both territories. Moreover, they will both join your defensive war efforts while also providing you with food access at the same Diplomatic Cost. However, that is where almost all the similarities end. Which Is Better Between Fiefdom vs Vassal in Europa Universalis 5 (EU5)
The differences between the two subjects have already been explained in detail above. However, you might still struggle to decide between them. Between the two, a Vassal is slightly more useful than a Fiefdom.
However, there are still risks to having a Vassal over a Fiefdom. A Fiefdom is generally more loyal, so it is a safer choice. However, you should also consider another factor here.
A Vassal with low loyalty can only affect nearby Vassal subjects. It cannot affect the loyalty of a Fiefdom. The same goes for vice versa. Therefore, you might want to split your subjects between Fiefdoms and Vassals, just to keep things stable.
