EVO 2025 has been announced, taking place in Japan this time around. That’s right. The e-sports tournament is leaving Las Vegas for the year 2025 to let the video gamer-lovers in Japan have a taste of the event.

Since it was only announced recently, there isn’t much information floating around regarding the same. We are here to change that for you! We will update you on everything you need to know about the title lineup planned for the matches, the different types of tournaments (that’s a thing this year), and the ticket details.

If you plan on going to the event, keep yourself free on May 9th, 10th, and 11th in the coming year. The Evolution Championship Series is taking place at the Tokyo Big Sight in Odaiba this year. For this, the viewers and participants must visit Tokyo, Japan.

For the first time in EVO history, the championship series is introducing a five-on-five tournament as well! The title lineup for this one may take some on a trip down nostalgia lane:

  • Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future
  • Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.

As for the classic one-on-one tournament enthusiasts, the event organizers are bringing that tournament back for EVO 2025. The following title lineup has been revealed for the same:

  • Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
  • System Works
  • Guilty Gear: Strive
  • The King of Fighters XV
  • Street Fighter 6
  • Tekken 8

The ticket sales and registrations opened up on December 4 and will remain this way until the 8th of May, 2025. That day, the tickets will close at 11:59 AM JST. There are two types of tickets: one is an Admission Ticket, and the other is a Premium Area Pass. While there are additional benefits in the latter, everybody still needs to buy the Admission Ticket separately for their entry.

Refer to the official website to clear up any confusion. Participants and viewers can visit the official EVO Japan website to buy these tickets. There is a catch, though.

Admission Ticket

The Early Bird discount will apply if you manage to get your hands on the tickets until January 27th, 2025, before 11:59 AM JST. This will allow you to buy the 3 Days Bundle for JPY 7,000.

Once the clock hits 12 PM JST on 27th Jan, the standard price will be enabled for the Admission Ticket. You would then have to buy it for JPY 8,000. This time window will expire after 11:59 AM JST on 24th March 2025.

Late charges will apply if you book the 3-Day Bundle after 12 PM JST on 24th March 2025. Until 11:59 PM JST on the 8th of May, 2025, you can buy this bundle for JPY 10,000.

Individual day passes can be bought starting on the 7th of April, 2025, for JPY 3,500 each. The buying window will close at 11:59 PM JST on 8th May, 9th May, and 10th May for events taking place on 9th May (Friday), 10th May (Saturday), and 11th May (Sunday), respectively.

Premium Area Pass

The Premium Area Pass is also simultaneously live, starting on the 4th of December, 2024. You can buy your access until 11:59 PM JST on 8th May 2025 for JPY 2,000 each. There are three types of passes here:

  • 2 Days Bundle (for Friday and Saturday)
  • 1-on-1 Area (Sunday)
  • 5 on 5 Area (Sunday)

You will have to buy a Premium Area Pass for these individually for JPY 2,000 each. A pass bought for Friday and Saturday will not get you access to the Premium Area on Sunday. And similarly, a pass that gets you access to one event on Sunday won’t let you visit the other one.

Kindly remember that you would still need to buy the Admission Ticket separately.
