The Elderwood is the first expansion to make an appearance in the free-to-play fantasy sim-adventure, Palia. This new update brings in a whole new map bundled with more content, gameplay systems, and an entirely new chapter for the players to delve into. In this article, we will take a closer look at what you can expect with the Elderwood expansion in Palia.
Elderwood Expansion in Palia
The land of Elderwood is a lush, magical forest filled with overgrown and majestic trees. With the new patch, every player will instantly get access to the Elderwood map. The entrance to head inside the Elderwood is at the northern part of Bahari. You will find it right between Tamala’s house and the Housing Plot Gate.
New Mission Requirements

In the Elderwood main story, you will have the chance to play a whole new set of quests within the new map. But to be eligible to play the new main storyline, you have to complete the ‘Temple Quest Storyline’. The quests in this storyline include,
- Vault of the Waves
- Vault of the Flames
- Vault of the Gales
- Vault of the Roots
- Troubled Waters
- Into the Fire
- Up in the Air
- Rooted in Place
Once done, you can make your way towards the Elderwood Main Story quests.
Relic System
The new arrival of a piece of equipment, Relic, will help give the player the right amount of buff for various situations and requirements. You can further level these up to grant you and/or your party stronger buffs. Let’s look at all the different Relics and what benefits they hold.

Elderwood Idol IV | Track all infected forage, fish, insects and huntable creatures. |
Bag of Illusion | Allows you to directly interact with infected forage without the use of special equipment or potions. |
Bag of Illusion II | Allows you to directly interact with infected forage and insects without the use of special equipment or potions. |
Bag of Illusion III | Allows you to directly interact with infected forage, insects, and fish without the use of special equipment or potions. |
Bag of Illusion IV | Allows you to directly interact with infected forage, insects, fish, and huntable creatures without the use of special equipment or potions. |
Guiding Lantern | Boosts the tier of other relics equipped by your party members. Capped at Tier II. |
Guiding Lantern II | Boosts the tier of other relics equipped by your party members. Capped at Tier III. |
Guiding Lantern III | Boosts the tier of other relics equipped by your party members. Capped at Tier IV. |
Guiding Lantern IV | Boosts the tier of other relics equipped by your party members. Capped at Tier V. |

Two new creatures are available to hunt across the new lands of Elderwood.
Ogopuu: This is one feisty creature that doesn’t take lightly to any strikes on them. They will be sure to hit back. Their abilities include sticking a slimy and sticky material on you, slowing your movements. They are also quite tanky, requiring a lot more hits to take them down. The types of Ogopuu are:
- Regular Ogopuu
- Waveback Ogopuu
- Emerald Ogopuu
Shmole: This one the other hand, is a creature in the shape of a mushroom. Do not take them lightly just by their size. They are quick fellas, using multiple holes in the ground for quick getaways. Finding the areas in which they stay isn’t as hard as finding the holes in which they hide. The hunt for them gives out Whack-a-Mole vibes. The types of Shmole are
