Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time is a slow life RPG that lets you live out your dream life in mystical lands. You start the game off by picking your Life, this game’s version of classes, and you go about grinding in that Life to attain mastery. Different Lives require you to master different aspects, traits, and skills. The Woodcutter Life, for instance, is one that requires you to be proficient with your woodcutting.
Expanding on the life of a Woodcutter, you’ll spend a good chunk of your time in the woods chopping down trees. To ensure that the gameplay loop never gets boring, the game has added a layer of complexity to it. Each tree has a weak spot (Sweet Spot) which you need to find for efficient cutting.
Chopping trees gives you materials. However, if you wish to get more materials out of each tree, you need to land “Excellent Hits.” These hits apply to most Lives where you have to work on something like a tree or an ore.
Excellent Hits are special hits that grant bonus materials each time you land. For how valuable these hits are, the game never really tells you how to land them. To land Excellent Hits, first, you need to open your Skill Board. Head to the Skill tree and unlock the Charged Attacks (Eg, Ore Breaker 1 for Miner or Charged Chop 1 for Woodcutter). Next, head over to the tree or ore you’re working on. Circle around the object and find its Sweet Spot. The spot is marked by a purple glow.
Once you have the Sweet Spot, use your tool to chop away at the object. Each of these objects has its own HP bar. Bring this HP bar down as low as possible. Once it’s just one hit away from being destroyed, use your newly unlocked Charged Attack. Using a final Charged Attack on any object with low HP registers as an Excellent Hit, granting you extra material.
