When you first begin playing Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time, you might wonder why some Life classes are unavailable. You will see 14 options, but only 12 are playable. The Artist, along with the Farmer, will be inaccessible at the start. Don’t worry, this isn’t a glitch. It’s part of how the story unfolds.

To open the path to the Artist Life, you will need to make steady progress in the main storyline. Stick with the central quests. These form the backbone of the game and quietly lead you to new locations and opportunities.

Begin With the Artist’s Treasure Hunt Quest

At a certain point in the story, you will gain access to a special quest called The Artist’s Treasure Hunt. This marks the starting point for unlocking the Artist Life. Things won’t be handed to you outright, you will need to revisit the past and take a deeper look at earlier locations.

Your main task here is to repair a ruined statue. This step ties into a larger mission involving Edward, who once again finds himself trapped. Fixing that statue is your way forward.

Talk to Anne and Rem again once you are in the past. They will help you reach a new area, the Tropical Isles. That’s where the Artist Guild is located. Explore carefully. You will eventually witness an art contest between Paulette and her competitor, Kikyo. After this event, go back to Anne. She’ll provide the license you need to activate the Artist Life.

Learn the Artist Skills Through a Specific Quest

Getting the Artist license is just the beginning. If you want to truly function as an Artist, accept the quest titled Set My Soul Ablaze. This optional but useful mission introduces the tools and basics of Life.

Paulette will be your guide here. She’ll send you to locate her apprentice. You won’t just chat—you will be tested. Pass the test, and you will move on to crafting a requested item for a client. This part is hands-on.

Approach the workbench and complete a mini-game to create the Jovial Mask. Once finished, hand the mask over to the client. Doing this will teach you the essentials of artistic creation in the game.

From this point forward, you are free to build and craft decorative items. Use your new skills to personalise your space at Base Camp or add flair to your in-game home.

Keep Advancing the Main Story

While the steps to becoming an Artist are clear, don’t neglect the rest of the game. Your access to hidden islands and more Life paths still depends on completing key story tasks. Treat those quests as your main priority. Everything else will open up naturally.

If the Artist Life feels like it’s taking time to appear, that’s intentional. The game wants you to explore and commit before granting access to deeper layers.
