Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a sequel and the second game in a trilogy. This trilogy is set to remake the entire Final Fantasy 7 (1997). The developers decided to break the original game into three parts so players could explore the story and the world more comprehensively. Now let’s talk about the chapter at hand.

The Planet Stirs is the ninth chapter in the game. The story continues after the events of the All That Glitters quest, as we see our heroes go to a new region named Gongaga in this chapter. There is much to do and experience in this mission, from fixing reactors in a lush green forest to our teammates riding on Chocobos to help us; there is no absence of entertainment throughout Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Chapter 9.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Chapter 9

In the beginning, we see our heroes ditching the desert and entering a new jungle area named Gongaga. The area is massive, with its own village, towers for you to explore, and chocobos for you to tame. You will also get to meet a familiar face in this region, and it is Cissnei.

The story does not hold back in this chapter either. We go from fixing a reactor to fighting two great boss battles, one of which is Scarlet herself. Tifa gets a little more attention from the developers in this mission, as we get to explore her character more than usual. We know all of that sounds amazing, so in this guide, we will walk you through Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Chapter 9.

Enter Gongaga

At the start of the mission, we see Cloud, Barret, Red XIII, Aerith, Tifa, and Cait Sith arriving in Gongaga in a buggy. You won’t have any control of the buggy at first but will gain it eventually. But you wouldn’t want to sit in the buggy all mission because there are tons of towers and a lifespring in the area for you. However, there won’t be any side quests available for the region yet.

To progress the story, you will need to go to the south of the region towards the reactor marked on your map. Once you reach that mark, you will be officially in the region of Gongaga. To get to the main village Cait Sith mentioned, you will need to go further south, so simply follow the waypoint for now.

When you arrive in the village, a cutscene will occur. You will see Cissnei from Crisis Core in this cutscene, and you will need to follow her. When you reach the house with the rest station, you will be able to find a chest there for Yuffie. When you are done, go to the house Aerith goes into, and then when the cutscene ends, you will need to talk to Aerith. This conversation will be about a certain soldier; however, we won’t spoil who. After the conversation, head straight to Cissnei’s house and choose the option, ‘Until It’s Time to Leave,’ when resting.

Fix the Reactor

Yuffie will wake you up and tell you that something is wrong with the reactor and you will need to investigate it. Go south from the village towards the ruins of the reactor after the cutscene ends. Don’t worry; the guards won’t stop you when you try to go towards the reactor. However, we must warn you that the reactor is pretty far from the village, so you will need to walk for quite a bit.

You will also find a tower that you can activate on your way; it will become a fast travel point, so don’t ignore it. Eventually, you will come across the reactor’s gate. It will be closed, but you can go through a hole on its lower left side. After the cutscene, go to the vending machine and resting place nearby. Rest and buy anything if you need it.

Once you are down, go to the right side and take the stairs there to go inside the facility. You will reach a hallway at the bottom of those stairs. Keep going straight until you come across an open room with enemies to fight. After you have defeated the enemies, you can find a chest on the left side of the next room. Loot and then go back to the previous room; go through the door that is barely open. While going through this area, you will notice a whisper flying in the hall; don’t chase it just yet.

Go to your right and you will find a room with enemies in it. Fight them all off and then go towards the hole in the wall to find a chest. You can use another hole in the wall there to come directly back to the previous hallway.

Restore Power to the Reactor Door

Go straight down the hallway and take a right. You will find a set of red stairs; take it and go down. Now swim through a little water, and you will reach the terminal. It will tell you that it does not have the power to activate the gate. Now go to your left and climb the platform; you will see that there is a cable on the ground. You can pick it up by pressing the L2 button, and plugging it back into the terminal will open the gate on its right side. Move forward from the gate and you will see three whispers running away. Take a left and kill the enemy in that room.

Once you are on the other side of the hallway, keep moving straight forward. You will eventually reach the coolant controls. Jump down into the water, go to the right, and you will find the ladder to go up the platform. Once you are on the platform, you will find a bunch of Grandhorns in the next room. Simply defeat them, and then go straight. You will see a broken bridge and many more whispers on the other side of it. Drop down to the water, go to the left, and you will find a yellow ladder. Go up using the ladder and then take a left.

Now you will find a partially opened door. Go through it to enter the control room; here you will find another terminal. This terminal does not have power either. You can find a cable on your left, but it will be blocked by a box. Simply move the box by pressing L2 and connect the cable to the terminal. Then proceed to your right, head down, and activate the control panel in front of the giant window. Now go back and swim to the location where you saw the whispers earlier. In this area, you will find vending machines and a resting place.

Heal up, and when you are ready, go straight down the hallway, and it will lead you outside. A cutscene will appear when you are outside. When it ends, you will have to fight a few Amalgams. You can use their weaknesses to fire to defeat them easily.

However, stay on guard when they throw spores out. Kill them and then go to the next platform, where you will have to fight three more Amalgams. When you have defeated them as well, prepare yourself for a boss battle.

Specimen H1024

The deformed abomination that will be standing in your path is named Specimen H1024. However, despite its monstrous appearance, it does have weaknesses. The boss is weak to ice, which you can exploit to do some much-needed damage. When H1024 attacks with its Mako Expulsion, simply dodge out of the way and keep hitting it with ice attacks to stagger it. Once it is staggered, use everything you have, including synergy abilities and limit breaks.

When the H1024 reaches half of his health, a cinematic cutscene will happen and then the fight will go back to its previous setting. Keep putting pressure on it and staggering it to land more hits. Once it loses more of its health, the H1024 will become more aggressive. Be more careful with your dodging and make sure you have healing items for this phase in the fight. Other than that, the fight progresses in the same way. Keep attacking it until it is defeated.

Chocobos to the Rescue

When Specimen H1024 gets defeated, the game will switch perspective to Tifa. Cissnei will get you Gongaga chocobos and a grappling gun to rescue Cloud. These green-colored Chocobos can jump on mushrooms, which will make it easy for you to traverse through the jungle and reach the reactor in time.

You will have to take the Shinra soldiers out to head inside the reactor. Go down the same path Cloud went down; your journey will be easier thanks to the grappling gun. Keep going deeper into the reactor until you reach a flooded hallway. Swim to the other side and then use the grappling hook to go to the next floor. Then go up whenever you find a way to use the grappling gun.

Eventually, you will find a room with enemies you can fight and another terminal. You won’t be able to connect the cable to the terminal, so go to the next floor first. Kill the enemies there and again use the grappling gun to go to the next floor. Now use the grappling gun again to get to the platform where the source of the cable is. Grab the source and push it until it can’t be moved anymore, then take the top and go down. Connect the cable to the terminal and then go to the next area where you will find a lot of Shinra soldiers. In this scenario, the riot troopers should be your priority because they will try to block you when you attack other soldiers.

After defeating all of them, go to your left through the ruins, and you will see a rusty platform you can go to using your grappling hook. Drop down to the next platform and take the robots out. From now on, follow where the games take you. Use the grappling gun whenever you get the opportunity. And eventually, you will reach a resting place with vending machines. When you are done healing and stocking up, go to your right and grapple toward the next area.

Scarlet in Her Crimson Mare Mk. 2

Final Boss Fight (Image via Square Enix)

You will get to target the hands of the crimson mare in the beginning. The mech suit is weak to electricity, so exploit it as much as you can using the thunder spells. Scarlet will fight with sabers at first but will switch to her cannons as the fight progresses.

Keep putting pressure on the cannons and destroy them to make the boss an easier target to stagger. Once the Crimson Mare Mk. 2 is staggered, do everything you can to damage it. When Scarlet recovers, her mech suit will get two new arms attached to it. These arms can also detach from the mech suit and attack you on their own, so keep dodging those.

Don’t get too close to the flying arms because they will damage you if you do. Once you have destroyed the arms, shift your focus to the boss. Repeat the process as you keep putting pressure to stagger the boss and then hit it until its health reaches zero. Tifa will be alone after the fight, so head towards her using the grappling gun as fast as you can. However, when you are close enough to Tifa, a cutscene will occur.

Trip Down Memory Lane

After a beautiful cutscene, the game will hand you the controls partially. You will have to hold the L2 and the R2 buttons when two different kinds of whispers start swarming the water in front of you. Then you will see many buildings; you can look at them and press the triangle button to see a memory related to it. Repeat this process until you arrive at the next area of the segment; here you will have to hold the L2 and R2 again.

Soon after this, the game will shift the perspective back to Cloud. Now the monster who ate Tifa will come out in front of you, and when you go close enough, another cutscene will show us that Tifa is alive, and she will rejoin the party. When this cutscene ends, the party will be back in the Gongaga village. Leave the house to trigger another cutscene. After that, you can head south and leave the village to continue the story.

When you are ready to leave, exit the village and follow the map to go towards the pilot. Once you reach the bridge, your chocobo’s ability to jump on mushrooms will make it a lot easier to travel to the airstrip. When you finally reach the Verdant Tower, go northwest from there, and you will arrive at the airstrip.

Conclusion

So this is the end of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Chapter 9. The mission was a rollercoaster ride with the events that unfolded and the characters that appeared. And the new region of Goganga is beautiful, and there is a lot to explore there. You can also check our other mission guides out on the website if you are interested.
