Shortly after the release of Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition—a remaster of the original title—Firefly Studios is launching the game’s first major update. Dubbed the Autumn Update, the content pack will roll out in two parts. The first part has revealed new units, characters, visuals, and larger maps. The update is expected to be released for players in late August.

Let’s take a closer look at what it offers in terms of free and paid content.

The Autumn Update for Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition is the first content update for the remastered game since its launch. It expands on the RTS’ map pool with three new maps for different game modes. The update will introduce three new AI commanders, including the Crocodile, Canary, and Trader. All commanders have animated interactions with the player. They are also playable for multiplayer and skirmish modes.

The series’ first Economic Campaign will release alongside these additions, challenging players with resource management and expansion objectives rather than combat. For those who prefer the industry of war, the Sands of Time skirmish trail offers nine missions with ranked leaderboards and target completion times.

Finally, the addition of two-player co-op to the game’s skirmish trials and campaigns introduces a new layer of strategy and coordination to Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition.
