This game-changing rod is hidden deep in the Mariana’s Veil expansion, and unlocking it is no easy task. Players must explore, complete quests, and fight bosses before even seeing it.
The journey starts in Volcanic Vents, continues through Challenger’s Deep, and ends in Abyssal Zenith. After collecting three secret fish, players gain access to the Calm Zone, where the rod is found. But there’s one final challenge. Players must complete the Veil of the Forsaken bestiary to unlock the purchase. It costs 15,000,000 cash, making it an endgame investment.

Step 1: Complete All Required Quests
Before reaching the Calm Zone, you must complete a series of tasks in three previous cave systems. Each cave has specific submarine upgrades, suit upgrades, and rare fish you need to collect.

- Get the Glimmerfin Suit Level 1
- Capture the Magma Leviathan
- Challenger’s Deep
- Unlock the Submarine Ice upgrade

- Unlock the Submarine Deep upgrade

After completing these three cave systems, you can finally head to the Calm Zone.
Step 2: Enter the Calm Zone
At the entrance of the Calm Zone, you will find a large gate. To unlock it, place the Magma Leviathan, Frozen Leviathan, and Crowned Anglerfish on the pedestals in front of the gate. Once you submit all three, the Calm Zone will unlock, granting access to its fishing area and bestiary.
Now, head to the island on the right inside the Calm Zone. The Ethereal Prism Rod will be resting against a rock in this area. However, you cannot buy it yet.
Step 3: Complete the Veil of the Forsaken Bestiary
Even after reaching the Calm Zone, you must complete the Veil of the Forsaken bestiary before you can purchase the Ethereal Prism Rod. This requires catching every fish in this region, but there are a few extra steps to unlock the final bestiary entries.
- Solve the Chessboard Puzzle at the end of the Calm Zone
- Jump through the Portal that appears after solving the puzzle
- Defeat the Scylla Boss to unlock the last fish entries
You do not need to catch secret fish like Scylla for 100% completion. After finishing the Veil of the Forsaken bestiary, the Ethereal Prism Rod will finally be available for purchase.
Step 4: Buy the Ethereal Prism Rod
The Ethereal Prism Rod costs 15,000,000 cash, making it one of the most expensive items in the game. If you do not have enough money, focus on high-value fish and use other upgraded rods until you save up enough.
