Freedom Wars, the sci-fi RPG originally released in 2014 for the PlayStation Vita, is making its way to current-gen consoles and PC. Developed by Dimps Corporation, Freedom Wars Remastered aims to modernize the series for current-gen hardware while staying true to its original vision. The remaster comes packed with a host of improvements compared to the 2014 original.

The improvements made to the game range from revised controls to a plethora of quality-of-life updates. Furthermore, the remaster also features brand-new difficulty levels for experienced ARPG players, as well as a fully overhauled and streamlined weapons crafting system.

The upcoming remaster also comes with some pretty hefty system specifications, especially for a game that was originally built for the Vita. Here’s everything you need to know about Freedom Wars Remastered’s official PC system requirements.

Freedom Wars Remastered PC System Requirements

The moment-to-moment gameplay and combat in Freedom Wars are very similar to another Bandai Namco-owned IP, God Eater, albeit with some changes. For starters, the combat in Freedom Wars is much more fast-paced compared to God Eater. Furthermore, the maps in Freedom Wars are much more vast and lively as opposed to the often barren and wasteland-like maps in God Eater.

While the game did perform quite well on the Vita, it was far from ideal. Given the Vita’s hardware limitations, Freedom Wars was prone to frequent frame rate drops and even occasional crashes. These are a few things the remaster aims to rectify.

In addition to technical improvements, the remaster also boasts high-resolution textures, 4K resolution support, and other modern graphical bells and whistles. That being said, here are the official PC system requirements for Freedom Wars Remastered:

The minimum specifications are targeted at a 1080p-60fps performance bracket, with the settings set to Low. Whereas, the recommended specifications target the same 1080p-60fps performance, albeit with the settings cranked to High.

Freedom Wars Remastered File Size

According to the official PC system requirements, Freedom Wars Remastered requires roughly 13 GB of storage. While the file size might look quite minuscule compared to most modern releases, it’s still a massive jump from the 1.6 GB of storage it took on the PlayStation Vita.

The additional storage is probably dedicated to the increased texture resolution as well as the 4K assets for the in-engine cutscenes. Freedom Wars Remastered is coming to all major console platforms, including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on January 10, 2025.
