In this article, we shall go over five games like Avowed that you can try out on your PC to scratch that same RPG itch.

After years of waiting, we finally have another RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, and boy is the game good. Many RPG fans have considered the game a return to form, while others have been left a little disappointed due to the hard lean towards fantasy elements. Regardless, the reception remains fairly positive, and the game has already left its mark on what’s shaping to be a stellar year.
If you’ve played the game already, or haven’t gotten to it yet but want to play something similar, there are plenty of games that you can jump into. Below, we have listed out five games just like Avowed that you can try out on your PC. These games either share similar themes, aesthetics, or gameplay. Either way, they will scratch the same itch that Avowed does.
1) Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a game frequently pitted against Avowed. The reason these games are compared is firstly due to both games releasing within a few weeks of each other. More importantly, both games throw you into a vast open world and feature extensive RPG elements. Role-playing in both games is solid, and both games try their best to immerse you. While KCD2 does not feature fantasy elements, it will scratch the same historical itch that Avowed does for you.
2) Baldur’s Gate 3

While Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 may not scratch your high fantasy itch, Baldur’s Gate 3 absolutely will. Developed by Larian Studios, Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the greatest RPGs of all time. This game accounts for every single choice you make, all of which then factor into the narrative. The game features complex characters who also react to your choices and form opinions on you. Baldur’s Gate 3 is the definitive RPG of this generation, and one you must play.
3) Fallout New Vegas

Obsidian broke into the mainstream and built goodwill among RPG fans with Fallout New Vegas. Despite never owning the IP, New Vegas remains Obsidian’s baby and is a game many consider the best of the series. Fallout New Vegas set the blueprint for Obsidian as you know them today. The game features everything you expect from these developers, including player freedom, as well as unprecedented control over how the narrative plays out. While the game may feel a little dated today, we still recommend giving this one a shot.
4) The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Whatever Avowed is today, it owes it to Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. By far the oldest game on this list, Oblivion continues to remain timeless due to its stellar art design and gripping narrative. The game features much of the same high fantasy elements you know from Avowed, making this game charted territory for anyone jumping in. The side quests in the game are the real star of the show, as is always the case with the Elder Scrolls games. Explore and complete the side quests, and you’ll have a blast.
5) Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The final game on this list is Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Developed by Bioware, Dragon Age The Veilguard treads much of the same ground that Avowed does. Both games feature high-fantasy elements with an emphasis on combat and various builds. Visually, too, both games have the same purple/pink/blue color palette. Dragon Age The Veilguard could very well just be Avowed in third person, and you wouldn’t know the difference.
