Navigate the battlefield using the wall bounce in Gears of War Reloaded to confuse your opponents and close the gap.

Back in 2006, Gears of War for the first time introduced the sticky cover system. Players quickly, however, found an exploit wherein they could cancel the wall-cover slide and chain-react over to the next cover. This, in turn, gave birth to the ‘Wall Bounce’ in Gears of War Reloaded. A once-considered bug turned into one of the most iconic moves that helped define Gears of War and later got added into the community lore as well.
To date, this is a move that carries forward with each following release in the franchise. In this article, we will look at how to instantaneously do a wall bounce off a wall dash to continue your flow of movement in Gears of War Reloaded.
Wall Bounce in Gears of War Reloaded

Now, let us talk about the holy grail of a move itself. While you can use the Wall Bounce technique in any game mode, it is most effective in Multiplayer due to the mode’s fast-paced nature. The Wall Bounce Movement helps you close your gap with the player quickly as you repeatedly spam past cover slides. Once you slide into cover, you instantly pull away and deflect onto the next piece of cover, and so on.
You will notice how your player skips the cover-stick animation and bounces wall after wall to make his way ahead rapidly. This move also acts as a measure of escaping tough situations. For starters, take your time to learn the move. Try getting the action correct for a single wall bounce before moving to multiple wall bounces simultaneously.
Note: Timing is crucial, as a millisecond here and there would completely nullify the action. Also, keeping your camera sensitivity high is useful to help change direction faster. The wall bounce is best paired with a shotgun, as you ultimately aim to clear the distance between you and the enemy.

How To Perform Wall Bounce

Let us look at the steps to perform the wall bounce in Gears of War Reloaded.
- Firstly, move towards a wall in either a straight or a diagonal manner.
- Now, press the cover button (‘A’ on Xbox or ‘Space’ on PC) to slide into cover. (Make sure that you continue to move forward. Having your character try to return to the same direction he was in will cancel the bounce and put him in cover.)
- Right before your character locks into the cover position, pull back on the movement using the left stick on Xbox or the opposite direction key on PC. This will cancel the wall cover and prompt a wall bounce animation instead.
- Now, quickly change the direction for your player and perform the cover and cancel movement by the next wall in line.
Repeat this to create a quick chain of wall bounces to either approach an enemy or flee from a fight.
