To begin your hunt for clay in the game, you must first obtain an Omni-Shovel, which you can upgrade by visiting the Ranger Station. Once you have the shovel, all you need to do is find and dig up the clay deposits. Just like in real life, the ideal location to find these deposits is near the water resources, especially ponds. Identifying clay rocks is easy due to their distinct reddish-brown color.

In addition to the water source, you can also collect clay from the Anthills. Although entering one might seem dangerous, ants typically would not attack you. Additionally, when you visit Ranger Station Snackbar in your early stages of the game, look for the clay beneath the tree roots to the left of the broken window at the back of the station.
