On day, a popular Rockstar Games insider and dataminer, Tez2, posted a tweet on X, suggesting that GTA Online is getting an age assurance feature. In the tweet, he shared a photo consisting of some code lines and quoted the following:

Jokes aside, Rockstar is planning to implement age assurance checks in the near future, rolling them out by region.

You may need to verify your age to access GTA Online, or certain features, like phone messages, Snapmatic, may be restricted until you verify your age.

The post states that the update will be rolled out region by region, and user who don’t verify their age will be restricted from using certain features. Some speculate that Rockstar Games is rolling out this update to safeguard GTA 6. While the post seems to be legit, neither Rockstar Games nor its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, commented on this matter. As of now, there is no official news regarding this mechanic, so it’s best to wait for an official statement.
