Political commentator HasanAbi called out Asmongold for being supportive of Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil’s arrest.
Political streamer “HasanAbi” Piker and fellow Twitch founder Zack “Asmongold” are at odds once more. Piker has criticized Zack again for his opinion on ICE’s arrest of Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil. In an X post, HasanAbi mockingly referred to Asmongold as a “classic free speech defender” and implied that he was a hypocrite for supporting Mahmoud Khalil’s confinement while criticizing game developers’ alleged censorship of video games. Hasan wrote:
“asmongold thinks its a violation of free speech when devs make videogame b**bs smaller, but when the dhs openly kidnaps a greencard holder for being pro palestine, he thinks its awesome and not a violation of the first amendment. classic free speech defender stuff here.”
Asmongold was expressing his support for Mahmoud Khalil’s detention in a video that HasanAbi was reacting to. The Twitch streamer says in the video, which is a clip from his stream:
“It’s hard to say whether he committed a crime, but there is a higher standard of conduct for green card holders than people who are naturalized citizens. And he wasn’t meeting that conduct, so he is getting deported hopefully. I heard that it blocked.”

In response to HasanAbi’s criticism of his perspective on ICE’s detention of Mahmoud Khalil, Asmongold first laughed before asserting that Hasan had transformed his argument into “an extreme caricature.” He said:
“Hasan does this a lot where he takes a person’s argument and he turns it into an extreme caricature of the argument. And then he acts like that’s what they’re doing in order to make them look ridiculous.”
Asmongold Refused To Have a Conversation With HasanAbi
HasanAbi responded to Asmongold’s remarks in a post on X as well, tagging his official account and inviting him to speak with him personally about it on stream. He wrote:
“Apologies if i’ve misunderstood your argument, but i’m open to clarification if you want to talk to me directly.”

However, Asmongold turned down the offer. On March 12, 2025, the streamer stated that he had no intention of debating the issue with HasanAbi. Asmongold added that HasanAbi had referred to him as dishonest and caricatured his talking points. He stated:
“He [HasanAbi] wants to talk about this. The problem is, I don’t want to engage with Hasan because he openly creates, if you look at this right here, this is the way generally it is. I found that debating things and arguing with people doesn’t really help, it doesn’t convince anybody or anything like that. You are beginning your criticism of me with a caricature of what my point of view is. Why would I engage with somebody who is intentionally being dishonest? Why would I do that? Of course I’m not going to do that.”
