On February 28, 2025, Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker made controversial comments about the United States (US) Senator Rick Scott during a Twitch livestream. Twitch banned Hasan for his comments on March 3, 2025, but it quickly restored his account 24 hours later. The unban has stirred a controversy with Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt and Felix “xQc” Lengyel calling Twitch out.

HasanAbi posted a video on YouTube explaining the ban controversy. He admitted to using hyperbolic language and said he would be more careful with his words moving forward. However, he maintains his stance on the United States government not addressing issues with the medical sector. The streamer is unhappy with Rick Scott’s appointment as a senator after being convicted of a $1.7 billion fraud.

Following Hasan’s return, xQc said that the unban is “genuinely concerning.” The streamer accused Twitch of favoritism and accused Twitch of not “putting their foot on the ground.” xQc thinks Twitch went “too easy” and demanded a longer ban.

Why Was HasanAbi Banned on Twitch?

Hasan reacted to the US House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson’s public statement on Medicare and Medicaid. Johnson told US citizens that the government wants to crack down on insurance fraud. Hasan reacted to Johnson’s statement and told his audience:

“If you (Johnson) cared about medicare fraud or Medicaid fraud, you would k*ll Rick Scott! Okay? You wouldn’t make Rick Scott, former governor of Florida, Rick Scott, you wouldn’t make him a prominent part of the Republican Party.”

After his unban, Hasan clarified that he did not issue death threats against Rick Scott. He alleged that the internet misrepresented his words, which led to the ban. However, he agrees that he worded his sentiment poorly and will be careful with his speech moving forward.

xQc Calls Out Twitch CEO After Hasan’s Unban

On March 4, 2025, xQc reacted to Hasan’s ban and expected Twitch to unban the streamer very quickly. He said:

“Now that he’s banned, I will say though, I don’t think it’s a good precedent for Twitch to f*cking go easy on him, especially since he said on stream, ‘Oh ya, I might get banned for this, but I don’t give a f*ck.’ That is knowing he is causing harm and doubling down.”

As soon as news of HasanAbi’s unban broke, xQc expressed his disappointment. He told his audience:

“I can’t believe that f**king Dan Clancy wakes up and unbans Hasan. It’s crazy. Imagine the platform not putting their foot on the ground when dealing with violent threats. Actually scary… I’m not even fearmongering. That’s genuinely concerning. That’s just scary.”

xQc claims if Hasan can be unbanned for allegedly issuing death threats, other streamers should also be unbanned. He brought up Adin Ross as an example of someone who has been deplatformed for two years. Ross was banned for allegedly platforming hate speech in his Twitch chat.
