Everything you need to know about the Healing Pulse in Hell Is Us, including how to use it, best use cases, and more.

Hell Is Us is far from a traditional action RPG, despite its combat system alluding to that genre. Instead, it’s an action-adventure game, with puzzles and exploration being the primary focus. That said, combat is still an integral part of the “Hell Is Us experience.” And one of the most important aspects of Hell Is Us’ combat system is the Healing Pulse.
While you do get Med Kits and other healing resources as you make your way through the war-torn lands of Hadea, those items are meant to be used as a backup. Instead, your primary means to heal during combat is going to be the Healing Pulse. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t do a good job of explaining the use cases of this mechanic.
To help with that, here’s a comprehensive guide on the Healing Pulse in Hell Is Us, and how to use it.

What Is the Healing Pulse in Hell Is Us

Healing Pulse is precisely what the term suggests: it’s a way to heal during combat, somewhat akin to the Ki Pulse mechanic in Nioh games. During combat, after you finish your combo or land a few attacks on the enemy, you will see a white-colored ring appear on Remi. Pressing the healing pulse button during this time will heal your HP up to a certain extent.
The best aspect of the Healing Pulse is that its effects can be stacked. As such, you can potentially keep your HP at maximum even if you get hit by enemy attacks. There are a few caveats to using the Healing Pulse. However, for the most part, it’s an incredibly powerful mechanic that you want to master as soon as possible.
It should be noted that Healing Pulse can be used against all enemy types, i.e., Hollow Walkers and Hazes.

How To Use the Healing Pulse

To use Healing Pulse, you need to press R1 or RB as soon as you see the ring appear on Remi. The timing can be a little tricky; however, with some practice, it’ll become muscle memory. The best way to trigger Healing Pulse is to finish a three-hit combo and press R1 right after. Do note that you cannot activate Healing Pulse in a staggered or “fatigued” state.
Additionally, when faced against Hazes, we recommend using the Healing Pulse only after you have staggered the enemy. Hazes tend to interrupt attacks, which can stagger you out of the Healing Pulse animation.
