Everything you need to know about the Timeloops in Hell Is Us, and how they affect exploration and gameplay.

Hell Is Us has some genuinely intriguing gameplay systems that not only serve the game’s narrative but also make for a very engaging gameplay scenario. One such element of gameplay is the Timeloops. These are essentially huge tar-covered structures, which can be found across the entirety of Hadea. Moreover, much like many other aspects of the game, the role of these Timeloops is something that’s left for the players to discover on their own.
You can find these Timeloops as soon as you complete the prologue and make your way to Jova. However, trying to interact with the Timeloops that early won’t result in anything. Instead, you need to wait till later in Act 1, when you can enter the Timeloops and disable them.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Timeloops in Hell Is Us, and how to disable them.

What Are the Timeloops in Hell Is Us?

Timeloops are essentially a bubble of memories and grief of Hadean citizens who died in the war. In terms of gameplay, Timeloops serve as a nesting place for the Hollow Walkers. As long as a Timeloop is active in an area, Hollow Walkers can reanimate even after death. As such, unless a Timeloop is closed, Hollow Walkers can always repopulate an area, making it difficult to navigate. However, if you disable said Timeloop, Hollow Walkers in the near vicinity tend to stay dead. That said, disabling a Timeloop is a bit tricky. To do so, you need to vanquish the Timeloop Guardians. Every Timeloop has four Timeloop Guardians assigned to it.
Killing all the Timeloop Guardians allows you to enter the Timeloop and disable it using your drone. The tricky part is finding the Timeloop Guardians. The title of Timeloop Guardian can be assigned to any Hollow Walker in the vicinity of the Timeloop. As such, figuring them out can be quite tricky. However, once you reach the Watcher’s Nest area in Act 1, you will receive the Guardian Detector. Using the Guardian Detector, you can locate all the Timeloop Guardians in an area.
After you locate and defeat the Timeloop Guardians, you will be able to enter the Timeloop and disable it.

Is It Necessary To Disable Timeloops in Hell Is Us?

Similar to the NPC quests (Good Deeds), Timeloops are an optional piece of content in Hell Is Us. As such, they aren’t mandatory to the story or required to get an ending. However, completing the Timeloops does reward you with resources and even weapons. As such, you might find it beneficial to disable any Timeloops you come across while exploring Hadea. In the later chapters of the game, some of the best rewards and Relics are locked behind Timeloops.
