Helldivers 2: How To Command SEAF Soldiers

The Super Earth Armed Forces, or S.E.A.F (SEAF), has always been an integral part of Helldivers. To add more depth, the latest Heart of Democracy update introduces a new mechanism.

Now, the players (Helldivers) can control and give orders to SEAF Soldiers during missions. Rather than being some background NPCs, players can now utilize the SEAF troops to gain an advantage in battle. Find out how to command SEAF Soldiers and what they do in Helldivers 2.

What Do the SEAF Soldiers Do in Helldivers 2? 

While you fight the invading Illuminate on Super Earth, the SEAF Soldiers fight alongside you. Most SEAF troops come with AR-23 Liberator, while some others are equipped with EAT-17 launchers and radios. Additionally, they can also throw grenades to eliminate the Illuminate units. 

Once rallied and recruited, they become powerful allies. They serve as a great resource whether you need backup, cover fire, or distraction. A group of SEAF Soldiers can take down big targets like Fleshmobs and destroy outposts or Cognitive Disruptors. Once recruited, they will stick around with you and fight the enemies until the extraction.

How To Give Orders to SEAF Soldiers in Helldivers 2

To recruit SEAF Soldiers and give orders to them, you need to find them first. They can be found across the city fighting Illuminate units and defending the citizens. Additionally, you can identify them via the blue dots in the minimap. Upon approaching SEAF Soldiers, open the communication wheel by pressing R1 on PlayStation and Q on PC. From there, you can give two operation commands. 

• Follow Me: They will join you and follow you everywhere until the end of the mission. 
• Wait: They will hold their current position and wait there until you issue the next command.

While the Follow Me option recruits them as a reinforcement, the Wait option allows you to strategically position them as support. Mixing both commands allows you to make the best out of the SEAF Soldiers while avoiding unnecessary casualties. Apart from the commands, you can also interact with them via Emotes or planting flags, and they will respond.
