Helldivers 2 expands its reach by announcing an Xbox Series X/S release on August 26, 2025. This means more players will be able to enlist and start defending Super Earth soon. Launched in early 2024 for PlayStation 5 and Windows, Helldivers 2 became a standout hit among the gaming community. Nearly 18 months later, Sony’s PlayStation Publishing arm is steering Helldivers 2 onto Xbox Series X/S. This marks a rare, high-profile shift, considering this is the first Sony-published title to see a release on Xbox platforms.
Helldivers 2 Set Will Release on Xbox With Cross-Play
Game director Mikael Eriksson shared on the Xbox Wire how a lot of fans have been asking for an Xbox port for some time now. Finally, their wish has been granted.
“We know gamers have been asking for this for some time, and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have, the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”
The official Helldivers 2 announcement stream revealed that the upcoming Xbox Series X/S port will be released on August 26, 2025. In fact, pre-orders for the game are now ongoing if you can’t wait to dive into the game on release day. Additionally, the game will feature cross-play between Xbox, PC, and PS5 platforms. This means you can play with your friends no matter where they are playing.
How to Pre-Order Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X/S
You can pre-order Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X/S on the official Microsoft store. There are two versions of the game you can purchase:
- Heldivers 2 Standard Edition – $39.99
- Heldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition – $59.99
The Standard Edition only includes the base game with no add-ons or DLC. If you want some extra content like armor sets, accessories, and Warbond Tokens, go for the Super Citizen Edition.
Here is a quick rundown of the extra content you get from the Super Citizen Edition:

- Savior of the Free DP-53 Armor Set.
- Will of the People Cape.
- MP-98 Knight Weapon.

Is Helldivers 2 Coming to Xbox Game Pass?
There are no confirmations from Sony or Microsoft about a potential Xbox Game Pass release for Helldivers 2. For now, you will only have access to the game on Xbox Series X/S by purchasing it. To be fair, the game is already fairly priced for a shooter title that offers hundreds of hours worth of gameplay with cross-platform compatibility.
