Is Hogwarts Legacy crashing on startup? Here are some possible fixes and to-do’s to help resolve this error.
Hogwarts Legacy was laden with bugs when it was first launched on all platforms. The crashing issue was among these, and it became very common for players to experience. However, it was mostly the PC players who experienced this crash while starting up the game. Some have had this issue since the launch while others developed it after certain updates.
We don’t have an explanation as to why this happens with players. Hence, there is no “official” way of fixing things. You can try to write about it in online communities or forums to find a potential way of coming across a possible way to fix it. But for the most part, it might not work for you. However, we have a few tricks that you might find beneficial to find a way past this error.
All Possible Ways to Stop Hogwarts Legacy From Crashing
A preliminary to all these methods is ensuring that your PC meets the minimum hardware and software requirements. Also, try restarting Steam and your PC to check whether that helps. If the error persists even after these checks, you can try the following methods:
- Running the game as an Administrator: Find the game folder and right-click on Hogwarts Legacy Exe. Choose Properties, click Compatibility, and choose Run This Program as an Administrator. Apply changes so you don’t have to repeat the same process every time.
- Disabling Full-Screen Optimization: Go to the game folder again, right-click on Hogwarts Legacy Exe, choose Properties, go to Compatibility, and tick mark on Disable Full-Screen Optimization. Click on Ok to apply.
- The Anti-Virus Methods: These include two settings. First, you must check whether your Anti-Virus firewall is allowing an app to run or not. If it’s not, make sure that it starts allowing Hogwarts Legacy to run freely. Next, you can also try disabling your Anti-Virus before launching the game. If it works, don’t forget to turn it back on after saving the game file for your computer’s safety.
- Graphics Card and Graphics Settings: First and foremost, ensure that your Graphics Card drivers are up to date. You can check this by going to your designated card’s website. Another way to resolve the issue is to run the game in High-Performance mode on the dedicated Graphics Card. Next, ensure that the Graphics Settings like resolution and texture quality are properly set up. You can also try installing Visual C++ X64 and X86 files, and restart your PC afterwards to check the effects.
- Lastly, when all hope is lost, you can try reinstalling the entire game. Make sure to backup your saved file before attempting this. Reinstalling should resolve most issues and you should be able to play the game smoothly.
