Spine Core is an item you have to collect as a part of a quest in Hollow Knight Silksong. You get the quest from the Seamstress, who upgrades your attire to Drifter’s Cloak for you to be able to glide and fly upwards using air streams. However, the NPC does not explain how you get Spine Cores at all. To help you out, here’s how you can easily collect Spine Cores in Hollow Knight Silksong.

Spine Core is a type of item you get from the Hoker enemies in Silksong. These flying bugs appear just before the rightmost side room in Deep Docks. You can easily identify these bugs as they float in one place and have four spine-like needles sticking out of them. If you are having trouble locating them, refer to the image above and go to the marked spot.

To get the item, you have to hit the Hoker and bait out their attack, where they shoot out their needles either diagonally or along a row and column. Once the needle sticks to the ground, quickly hit it before the projectile despawns. Hitting the Spine Core creates a glowy orb, which you can pick up.

The room mentioned before contains three or four Hokers, which you can farm for Spine Cores. The best way to do so is by jumping and attacking them, which pushes them closer to the ground. Doing so creates a better angle for them to shoot their projectile near the ground, meaning each shot gives you at least two Spine Cores.

Additionally, you can hit each Hoker three or four times, depending on whether you get a critical hit. This means you can complete the quest in one go without having to wait for the enemies to respawn. After you are done collecting all the Spine Cores, head back to the Seamstress to upgrade your cloak and challenge the Fourth Chorus.
